  1. This is the way I set up the Everex Everfax 24/96
  2. FAX / Data Modem with EFAX3 DOS based FAX software for
  3. Windows 3 Enhanced mode operation on a Wyse 3216 (16 Mhz,
  4. 386 machine).

  6. FAXENGIN.PIF sets the VM attributes and starts the batch 
  7. file call FAX3.BAT
  8.  
  9. FAX3.BAT logs the hard disk drive that contains the EFAX3 
  10. software, changes to the EFAX3 sub-directory, loads the 
  11. EFAX3 fax engine software, and then loads the EFAX3 
  12. application software.

  14. I usually run everything in a DOS box or iconized, until I 
  15. want to view a FAX.  When I want to view a FAX, I switch 
  16. to full screen with ALT-Enter.

  18. The faxengine software requires access to the 16550 UART
  19. which TurboCom provides.  I have set my minimium timeslice
  20. (in the Windows Control Panel 386Enhanced section) set to 
  21. 10 millisecond, and COMBoostTime (in the SYSTEM.INI file) 
  22. set to 4 or 5.

  24. Make sure you do not have any VMs set to EXCLUSIVE, as this 
  25. will stop the faxengine's VM whenever the "EXCLUSIVE" VM 
  26. has the input focus (even if the other VMs have BACKGROUND
  27. set).
