"TIMEWARP"
Documentation for the "Timewarp" Time Zone Conversion
Utility
by David McLauchlan 1993
Documentation 1.0c for Software Version 1.0

* INTRODUCTION/OVERVIEW/AUTHOR
Firstly, thankyou for using "Timewarp". I always found
converting worldtimes most tedious - "Timewarp" has
certainly removed the tedium there.
I am always open to suggestions, or requests for
alterations. I can be contacted at:
David McLauchlan
12 Lisa Court
Paradise 5075
AUSTRALIA
I can also be contacted at the following Electronic Mail
addresses:
CompuServe: 100236,420
Fidonet: David McLauchlan at 3:800/817
Some ideas I have presently include "Timewarp Online" - a
world time converter for BBS's. I would also like to write a
TSR time converter that 'pops up' at the press of a key, say
F12. If you have any suggestions for these ideas, please put
them my way.
I will always keep the latest version of "Timewarp" on 'The
Software Terminal BBS' (of which I am co-sysop). Please call
it on (08) 274 1363, or from overseas: [YOUR INTERNATIONAL
CODE] + 61-8-274-1363. Eg: from the USA you would dial:
011-61-8-274-1363.
Once again thankyou, and I look forward to your comments...
David McLauchlan

* SETUP AND OPERATION
In writing "Timewarp", I have tried to keep the amateur
computer user in mind, by being fairly user friendly. All
the user really has to do is remember that all times must be
in 24 hour format, with no seconds, and questions can be
answered with simply a 'y' or 'n' followed by a carriage
return (enter).
To start the program, you must be in DOS, with a prompt (C>,
or C:\> or similar). The C could be any drive in your
system.
If you are running "Timewarp" from your A: drive, then at
the DOS prompt type:
A: [ENTER]
TIMEWRP [ENTER]
If you have the file 'Timewrp.exe' elsewhere in your system,
please consult your DOS manual for information on how to
swap drives/directories.
You should see an introductory screen comprising a circle
with a triangle emblem, with the title of the program. After
a short period of time, this is cleared, and a shareware
notice comes up. If you decide to continue using the
software, and therefore register, this screen will not
appear. Press [ESC] to continue.
Following the shareware notice, is a mini-utility that
allows you to alter your time on your computer. Should you
wish to do so, press [y] and press [ENTER]. If the displayed
time is correct, press [y] and [ENTER] again, if not press
[n] followed by [ENTER]. You now have an opportunity to
enter the correct time in 24 hour format (ie: 11:23pm would
be 23:23).
Now, you see a screen full of time zones. All the zones
listing are referenced by a number, and several cities that
are in that zone. Although the place whose time you want to
convert may not be listed, any city who shares that time
that is listed will do. At the prompt, enter the number of
the zone that you want to convert FROM. You must press
[ENTER] after entering this number. You will then be asked
to enter the time that you are converting FROM. Remember
this must be done in 24 hour time (in the format HH:MM where
HH is greater than or equal to 0, and less than or equal to
24, and MM is greater than or equal to 00, and less than
60).
You will now be asked what time zone you are converting TO.
This procedure is identical to entering the zone converting
from. "Timewarp" will now display the converted time!
-- Page 3 of "Timewarp" Documentation 1.0c --
Following this, you now have the option to convert another
time, or quit the program. If you choose to quit, the final
screen will display the name of the person to whom the
software is registered (if you have registered!).

To register, simply print and fill out the file

I will upgrade/register it, and then I will mail it back to
you. For A$15, you send me the money, and I will mail you
the manual - printed up, formatted and bound and the latest
copy of the program on original disk.
