  7. Despite some erosion in recent years, the tax law still
  8. tends to put employee fringe benefits on somewhat of a
  9. pedestal.  The following discussion covers 3 of the more
  10. commonly provided types of fringe benefit ("employee wel-
  11. fare") plans offered by employers, generally on a tax-free
  12. basis to employees:  Health care plans, disability insur-
  13. ance, and group-term life insurance plans.  This discussion
  14. does not cover other important benefit plans such as pen-
  15. sion and profit sharing plans, discussions of which are to
  16. be found elsewhere in this program or, if you have a copy,
  17. in the related book "STARTING & OPERATING A BUSINESS IN
  18. @STATE."
