  33.         PAF is an extremely good, inexpensive way for genealogists to
  34.         organize their data. A utility program is included with PAF which
  35.         is used as an organizational tool. This program is entitled
  36.         Research Data Filer and allows the input of genealogical events
  37.         for a person. The events can be linked to related individuals and
  38.         can also be linked with an associated documentation file.

  40.         RDF can indeed help to organize a research effort. It is
  41.         especially helpful in identifying an ancestor from a list of
  42.         possible candidates.  However, despite it's usefulness, it has one
  43.         glaring weakness: it is essentially a dead end data base with only
  44.         printed output possible.  RDF2GED attempts to overcome this
  45.         problem by providing an outlet for RDF data to either a GEDCOM
  46.         file or to an ASCII/comma delimited file.

  48.         RDF2GED reads PAF's RDF data and produces a GEDCOM file suitable
  49.         for reading into a genealogy system, a straight ASCII file, or a
  50.         comma delimited file. Information stored in RDF's files is
  51.         included in the GEDCOM file and information from an associated
  52.         RDF.DOC file can be included as notes, if desired. The GEDCOM file
  53.         is a series of one or two generation links which can then be
  54.         merged into multi-generation linkages with any genealogy program
  55.         supporting GEDCOM. The ASCII file is a series of 256 character
  56.         records which can be read into a word processing program and used
  57.         in a multitude of ways including printing. The comma delimited
  58.         file is a variable length file suitable for reading into a data
  59.         base or BASIC program.
