  26.         Name Editor for Personal Ancestral File (NE4PAF) is a program that
  27.         will allow you to edit the PAF name file.  It also automatically
  28.         corrects common capitalization errors in names.

  33.         Not everyone follows the obvious rules of always identifying
  34.         Switzerland as Switzerland or using the U.S. postal codes for
  35.         states.  Instead there are many ways of spelling place names. 
  36.         When importing GED files from other sources, or even when several
  37.         individuals are entering data in one PAF database, identifying
  38.         these differences and correcting them one by one can be tedious
  39.         and time consuming.  There is also the problem of names typed in
  40.         with all uppercase letters and correct capitalization of some last
  41.         names such as those beginning with Mc or Mac.  NE4PAF is a utility
  42.         to help you make these kinds of corrections.

  44.         NE4PAF will allow you to edit the name file (NAME2.DAT) of
  45.         Personal Ancestral File (tm), version 2.2.  It will also 
  46.         automatically place all names in lowercase letters except for the
  47.         first letter of the name while also capitalizing the first letter
  48.         to follow Mc, Mac, a space, or the characters: (, ), [, ], the
  49.         question mark or the comma.

  51.         When individual names are changed, all related changes to the
  52.         individual (INDIV2.DAT) or marriage (MARR2.DAT) files are
  53.         performed. NE4PAF comes in two versions. NE4PAF1 can be used if
  54.         your NAME2.DAT file is smaller than 62,000 bytes.  Since it does
  55.         all name manipulation in memory it operates fast.  NE4PAF2 must be
  56.         used if your NAME2.DAT file is larger than 62,000 bytes.  Since it
  57.         uses disk space in place of memory, it operates much more slowly.
