  26.         GED2TT converts GEDCOM files to TinyTafel files which can be used
  27.         in the national Tafel Matching System (TMS).

  32.         Before creating a TinyTafel, GED2TT allows you to modify your
  33.         GEDCOM file by changing capitalization of Individual names and
  34.         abbreviating State names. GED2TT will then create a TinyTafel file
  35.         from the GEDCOM file.  A TinyTafel is a summary of a data file
  36.         which lists all surnames in the file, the number of times each
  37.         surname is found, oldest and youngest birthdates of each surname
  38.         and geographic area where the surnames resided.  This is a useful
  39.         summary of data to share with other genealogists about your data
  40.         or for doing genealogy research with other software data bases.

  42.         You may submit your TinyTafel to any node on the computer bulletin
  43.         board network known as the National Genealogy Conference (NGC)
  44.         which contains a program called the Tafel Matching System (TMS). 
  45.         You can then use TMS to search other data bases over the entire
  46.         NGC network using the information in your TinyTafel as a basis for
  47.         matching, within the constraints you select. To get more

  52.         The GEDCOM file may be created by PAF GIE-GEDCOM or by GENE
  53.         GEDCOMG.  GEDCOM files created by GENE GEDCOMG do not contain any
  54.         place data whereas PAF GEDCOM files do contain place data.  Header
  55.         data is read from the gedcom file or you can enter the  "header"
  56.         information (ie your name, address, etc) to be placed in the
  57.         TinyTafel file.  The TinyTafel file created by GED2TT will have
  58.         the same name as the GEDCOM file except that the extension of  the
  59.         name will be changed to (.TT).  A second GEDCOM file may be added
  60.         to the TinyTafel.  Each name is also soundex coded.
