  10. The following list of utilities, business software and operating systems
  11. recently released or soon to be released was compiled from the pages of
  12. PC Week and InfoWorld.
  13.  
  14. Now that a few volumes of NEWUTLxx are in circulation, you may find
  15. that you are missing one or two.  All volumes are always a free
  16. download on Mother Lode, so be sure to get an account there if you
  17. don't already have one!

  21. Windows 4.0 by Microsoft due in 1994 - Code named Chicago
  22.   Replaces Windows for Workgroups and supports 32-bit code.  Will not
  23.   require DOS, but DOS 7.0 will be a spinoff of Windows 4.0.  DOS 7.0
  24.   will also have 32-bit internals and multitasking.  Cairo will be the
  25.   next major version of Windows NT in 1994, and will have a more
  26.   object-oriented GUI and a distributed object-oriented file system
  27.   which will make the network "transparent".  Windows 4.0 will support
  28.   the full Win32 API from NT with pre-emptive multitasking, and have
  29.   a user interface similar to if not the same as that of Cairo.

  31. Windows NT may ship as late as July 30, and in two versions,
  32.   NT Advanced Server with Remote Access and Macintosh gateway services,
  33.   and the desktop version.  The server version also includes disk
  34.   mirroring, duplexing and RAID Level 5.  Both versions will be bundled
  35.   with 32-bit versions of MS Mail, Schedule Plus, NetDDE and multi-boot
  36.   of NT, DOS and OS/2.  The final beta is now shipping.

  39.   First beta released - VFAT file system runs in 386 protected mode

  41. OS/2 2.1 by IBM has shipped another beta

  44.   More flexible and powerful than Norton Desktop.  Includes "virtual

  46.   and scripting.

  49.   Context-sensitive menus, live status bar, drag-and-drop, in-cell edit
