On )(evious, Margrit + Wolfgang Wiebach have uploaded an amazing
series of solved MAHJONGG games. I found it interesing that Wolfgang
was never able to solve 00615 (30 tiles left), and MJSOLVER only got to
36 tiles left. In my experience, when a board is impossible you can
get it down to some final configuration such as three identical tiles
on top of one another.
Stubbornness being one of my virtues (? at least *I* like to think of it as
a virtue, others heartily disagree) I undertook board 00615. It was by far
the hardest I've seen since I actually figured out how to beat this damn game
consistently, but I was able to solve it.
Moral: Don't trust computers to correctly solve your problems! <grin>
