  40.                             1.  DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  42.           Shareware distribution gives users a chance   to try software
  43.       before buying it.   If you try a  Shareware program and  continue
  44.       using  it, you  are  expected  to  register. Individual  programs
  45.       differ on  details  -- some  request  registration  while  others
  46.       require   it,  some  specify  a  maximum   trial   period.   With
  47.       registration, you get anything  from the simple right to continue
  48.       using the software to an updated program with printed manual.

  50.       1.1  Copyright

  52.           Copyright  laws  apply  to  both  Shareware   and  commercial
  53.       software, and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few
  54.       specific  exceptions  as  stated  below.  Shareware  authors  are
  55.       accomplished programmers, just like  commercial  authors, and the
  56.       programs are  of comparable  quality. (In  both cases, there  are
  57.       good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method
  58.       of distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
  59.       and distribute the  software,  either to all  and sundry or to  a
  60.       specific  group.  For  example,  some  authors   require  written
  61.       permission  before  a  commercial  disk  vendor  may  copy  their
  62.       Shareware.

  64.       1.2  Licence

  66.           ImgFun is  a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  67.       to the  user for evaluation.   Feel  free to share  it  with your
  68.       friends, but please  do not  give it away altered or  as part  of
  69.       another system.  The essence of  "user-supported"  software is to
  70.       provide  personal  computer  users  with quality software without
  71.       high prices,  and yet  to provide  incentive for  programmers  to
  72.       continue  to  develop new  products.  If  you find  this  program
  73.       useful and find  that you are  using ImgFun  and continue to  use
  74.       ImgFun  after  a  reasonable  trial  period,  you  must   make  a
  75.       registration payment  of $35.00  to Speedy Software.   The $35.00
  76.       registration  fee  will  license  one  copy for use  on  any  one
  77.       computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just like
  78.       a book.  An example is that  this  software  may  be  used by any
  79.       number of people and  may  be  freely  moved  from  one  computer
  80.       location to  another, so long  as there  is no possibility  of it
  81.       being  used  at  one  location while it's being used at  another.

  91.       1.3  DISCLAIMER - AGREEMENT

  93.           Users  of ImgFun must  accept this   disclaimer  of warranty:
  94.       "ImgFun is supplied as is.   The author disclaims all warranties,
  95.       expressed  or  implied,  including,   without   limitation,   the
  96.       warranties  of merchant ability and of fitness for  any  purpose.
  97.       The  author   assumes   no   liability  for  damages,  direct  or
  98.       consequential,  which may result from the use of ImgFun".

  100.       1.4  Try before you pay

  102.           Shareware is a distribution  method, not  a type of software.
  103.       You should find software that suits  your  needs  and pocketbook,
  104.       whether it's  commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
  105.       fitting  your needs easier, because you can try before  you  buy.
  106.       And because the overhead is  low, prices are  low also. Shareware
  107.       has  the ultimate money-back  guarantee  -- if you  don't use the
  108.       product, you don't pay for it.

  110.       1.5  PRIVILEGES FOR REGISTRATION

  112.           You are  encouraged to pass  a copy of ImgFun  along  to your
  113.       friends for evaluation.   Please encourage them to register their
  114.       copies if they find that they can use it.  Registered users  will
  115.       receive a copy of  the  latest  version  of   ImgFun+  some bonus
  116.       utilities  developed  from  the feed back  of  users.   At   this
  117.       date  of  writing   ,  the bonus includes   stand alone  jpeg  to
  118.       gif,  and  gif to jpeg   programs, a print  out program for Epson
  119.       compatible dot matrix printers,  and a print  out program for  HP
  120.       laser jets or compatibles and the complete LHA and LZEXE packages
  121.       for  excellent  lossless  data  compression.   This   package  is
  122.       packed to serve  the need of data compression  to let  you regain
  123.       precious disk  space in  your system,  and also let you enjoy the
  124.       results of  the latest  development in  ImgFun for your  computer
  125.       images.

  131.       copies of ImgFun within  21 days of first use or their licence is
