  1. ANSI.SYS and CONFIG.SYS (containing
  2.    the line DEVICE=ANSI.SYS) must be
  3.    accessible when the PC is started.
  4. Type COLOR and then your choice(s) of 
  5.    character intensity and/or color,
  6.    and/or background color (indicated
  7.    by the prefix "back") selected from
  8.    the following list of parameters.
  9. For color displays:
  10.         black          backblack
  11.         red            backred
  12.         green          backgreen
  13.         brown          backbrown
  14.         blue           backblue
  15.         magenta        backmagenta
  16.         cyan           backcyan
  17.         white          backwhite
  18. For color and monochrome displays:
  19.         normal
  20.         bright
  21.         reverse
  22. For example: COLOR bright red backgreen
