  1.           ===== Utilities for use with the .COL/.IDX Files =====

  3.   Several utilities now exist that read the columnar filename list (the
  4.   HACK????.COL file, where ???? is the same year/month as that used in the
  5.   filename of The Hack Report).  Some of these will also work with the new
  6.   .IDX format file, which will replace the .COL format in January, 1994.

  8.   These files perform different functions, so you might want to experiment
  9.   with each to find the one that suits your needs as either a SysOp or as a
  10.   BBS User.

  12.   This list is by no means complete:  there are possibly more out there,
  13.   but these are just some that I am aware of.  If I have left any programs
  14.   out, please contact me and let me know.
