If you've been having fax problems with your fax modems,
this may fix your problem.
In my case, I was using a Supra 14.4 fax/modem with the bundled
Winfax Lite software. When trying to receive multi-page faxes
I would lose the carrier at random points during receive attempts.
Winfax gave error codes of 100 and 102 as reasons for the failures.
Exchanging faxes with Supra Tech Support for several months did
not clear up the problem. Their suggestions included that I
"make sure" I had the Windows/Main/Ports Flow Control set to
XON/XOFF, and Port Speed set to 57,600. They even suggested I run
at Class 1, which didn't help either.
Posting my plight in the Hi-Speed Modems Topic of the Communications
Message Conference on Exec-PC resulted in suggestions to change the
flow control to HARDWARE, *not* XON/XOFF, and try lowering the port
speed to 19,200. I did both and IT WORKED !!! Give it a try!
Special thanks to Steve Karolek and Tom Kinkley, members of Exec-PC,
for fixing my problem, when Supra Tech Support could not.
