  3. This file is not part of emTeX.
  4.  
  5. This is a fairly recent beta version of the emTeX typesetting package for
  6. MS DOS and OS/2.  I've re-archived all the files using the new version
  7. of pkzip, but they are otherwise taken as-is from the uk TeX archive at
  8. the beginning of 1993.    THESE FILES MUST BE UNZIPPED WITH DIRECTORY
  9. STRUCTURE INTACT.  This is the default for info-unzip, but you must use
  10. the -d switch with pkunzip.
  11.  
  12. The package is comprised of TeX 3.141 and METAFONT 2.71, and the emTeX
  13. dvi drivers, version 1.4s.  The only bug I've noticed so far is that the
  14. dvi drivers need the dvi file name to be the first argument.  There are
  15. 386 versions of both TeX and METAFONT for OS/2 2.0 or DOS.  They use the
  16. emx environment as a DOS extender (which means they can run under
  17. Desqview, but not under Windows).

  19. The package is not complete.  You need to have the tex input files, and
  20. maybe texware and mfware, to use it.  These are available as emtex3,
  21. emtex5, emtex9, and emtex10.  See emtex0.zip's emtex.me for details.

  49. embeta1.zip: dvi to text converter, useful for spell-checking.  Program
  50. for creating 8-bit input translation files, program for running metafont
  51. with parameters, 386-specific version of TeX, for OS/2 2.0 or DOS (but not
  52. windows).  This is a fast big TeX (32 bit flat address space).

  66. class).  This is a (painfully) slow big tex.  (16 bit segmented memory
  67. code, huge model).
