  50. new password, you must correctly enter your current password.  It's a
  51. good idea to change your password every few months to deter attempts

  56.         [white]This command changes your "help level".  Maximus supports
  57. the following four help levels:

  66.         [white]This command changes the delay after each transmitted
  67. line.  Unless you're using an ancient terminal, you probably won't need
  68. to use this setting. [goto Next]

  72.         [white]This command changes your screen width setting.  If the
  73. width you give here is incorrect, messages and menus won't be
  74. displayed properly. [goto Next]

  78.         [white]This command changes your screen length setting.  If
  79. this length is incorrect, then the `More [[Y,n]?' prompts won't be displayed
  80. in the right places. [goto Next]

  84.  
  85.         [white]This command toggles the translation of tab characters.
  86. Normally, Maximus sends tabs unaltered.  A tab can replace up to eight
  87. spaces, so using tabs may make your display marginally faster.  If
  88. your terminal doesn't support tabs, you can tell Maximus to translate
  89. tabs into spaces by turning the tabs option OFF. [goto next]

  91. [/Mmore yellow]        MORE
  92.  
  93.         [white]This command can be used to turn off screen paging.
  94. Normally, Maximus will display a "More [[Y,n,=]" prompt at the end
  95. of every screen page.  However, if you're doing a lot of text
  96. capturing, you can turn off these prompts by selecting this
  97. option.  Also, you can temporarily turn off more prompts for one
  98. file by selecting the `=' option at any existing more prompt. [goto Next]

  100. [/Video yellow]        VIDEO MODE
  101.  
  102.         [white]This command can be used to change your current video
  103. mode.  Currently, Maximus supports the TTY, ANSI and AVATAR video
  104. modes.  Both ANSI and AVATAR support colour and cursor positioning,
  105. but TTY mode is text-only. [goto Next]

  107. [/FSED yellow]        FULLSCREEN EDITOR
  108.  
  109.         [white]This command toggles the use of the full-screen editor.
  110. The full-screen editor is more like a word processor than a BBS
  111. editor; you can use the cursor keys to move around, insert and delete
  112. text in the middle of paragraphs, and so on.  However, you need ANSI
  113. or AVATAR graphics to use the full-screen editor, in addition to a
  114. screen of at least 23 lines and 79 columns. [goto Next]

  116. [/SClr yellow]        SCREEN CLEAR
  117.  
  118.         [white]This command toggles screen clearing codes.  If your
  119. terminal can't handle the TTY clearscreen character (ASCII 12) or the
  120. ANSI "2J" command, this option should be turned off. [goto Next]

  122. [/IBM yellow]        IBM CHARACTERS
  123.  
  124.         [white]This command toggles the translation of IBM high-bit
  125. characters.  IBMs and compatibles have an `extended' 8-bit character
  126. set, including box-drawing characters and block graphics, accented
  127. characters, and so on.  Most non-IBM systems don't support these
  128. codes, so turning off this option causes Max to translate the high-bit
  129. characters into an equivalent ASCII character. [goto Next]

  131. [/PhoneNum yellow]        PHONE NUMBER
  132.  
  133.         [white]This command lets you modify the phone number in your
  134. user record.  This command may be unavailable on certain systems. [goto Next]

  136. [/HHotkeys yellow]        HOTKEYS
  137.  
  138.         [white]The Hotkeys command allows you to toggle the use of
  139. hotkeys within Maximus.  When hotkeys are turned off, you must press
  140. <enter> after each command letter.  However, if hotkeys are turned on,
  141. Maximus will act on keystrokes as soon as they are received. [goto Next]

  143. [/LLanguage yellow]        LANGUAGE
  144.  
  145.         [white]The Language command allows you to select an alternate
  146. language file.  A list of available languages is displayed when you
  147. select this command; simply choose a number to change to that language.
  148. You can change language files at any point in the session. [goto Next]

  150. [/ShowInUserList yellow]        SHOW IN USERLIST
  151.  
  152.         [white]This command allows you to select whether or not your
  153. name will be shown in the system userlist.  If you don't want your
  154. name to be displayed to others (for whatever reason), this option can
  155. be turned off. [goto Next]

  157. [/Protocol yellow]        PROTOCOL DEFAULT
  158.  
  159.         [white]This command allows you to select a default file
  160. transfer protocol.  Normally, when performing an upload or a download,
  161. Maximus will prompt you to select a protocol for each transfer.  However,
  162. if you'll always be using the same protocol, you can select it
  163. here on the change menu.  After a default protocol is selected, Max will
  164. automatically assume that you want to use that protocol when performing
  165. an upload or a download. [goto Next]

  167. [/Archiver yellow]        ARCHIVER DEFAULT
  168.  
  169.         [white]This command allows you to select a default archiving
  170. program.  When performing a QWK mail pack, Maximus will normally ask
  171. you to select a compression method.  However, if you'll always be
  172. using the same compression format when downloading mail, you can
  173. select a default archiver using this option. [goto Next]
  174.  
  175. [/FullScrnRead yellow]        FULL-SCREEN READER
  176.  
  177.         [white]This command toggles the use of the Maximus
  178. "full-screen reader".  This reader is identical to the header
  179. used in the message entry command.  More information will be
  180. displayed than in the default header, such as both the creation
  181. and arrival dates, but the new header takes longer to display
  182. on remote screens.  You must be using ANSI/AVATAR and have screen
  183. clearing turned on for this option to work. [goto Next]

  185. [/Alias yellow]        ALIAS

  187.         [white]This command allows you to change your alias.
  188. (Some systems may not have alias support enabled, so this
  189. option may not be available to you.) [goto Next]
