Version 1.10
December 1992
SOME of the changes made
to version 1.02
─────────────
For a complete list of the features of Communiqué v1.10 please
read the FEATURES.DOC document supplied within this archive.
─────────────
OVERLAID - Communiqué is now completely overlaid, supporting
XMS and EMS memory, variable overlay size, and the overlay
probation-reprieval system. Having Communiqué overlaid means
that only part of the program need reside in memory are any
one time, therefore reducing the memory requirements of the
program.
Communiqué now has a VERY handy MEMO PAD feature. The MEMO PAD
can be reached from the work screen or from the DIALLING
DIRECTORY to make notes about dialling directory entries or
about a system whilst you are online, ie. which files you wish
to download. Press ALT-F2 will bring the MEMO PAD up in a
window, to exit you merely press ESC.
Communiqué will now time-slice with MicroSoft Windows 2.x and
3.x, and also OS/2, on top of the others previously supported.
Communiqué has been tested with both these and runs well under
both.
You are now given the option of selecting different Status
Bars with different type of information and presented in a
different way. More selectable Status Bars will become
available later, currently there are 3 types of Status Bars
that you may use.
You can now directly load in another dialling directory file
from within the DIALLING DIRECTORY.
A further six new external protocol slots have been added to
the previous four, allowing you to now install up to ten
external protocols. Each external protocol may also have its
own auto-start string much like the ZModem auto-download
string.
When you press the ALT key now the Status Bar (If present)
will change and give you some more added information on other
new features described below.
A new Screen Saver has been added which will blank your screen
and move a small message around the screen after a set amount
of inactivity. If there is no activity from the keyboard,
mouse or com port then Communiqué will blank the screen.
Pressing the ALT-F5 key combination now displays the current
IEMSI server information from your last IEMSI connection this
session. The window contains the system and sysop name,
software, capabilities an and local time.
Communiqué will now play the de-facto ANSI standard music sent
with ANSI terminal codes. This can be turned off in the
SETUP/GENERAL menu.
There are now proper file pick lists in a lot of the file
functions, such as LOAD MACRO. You can press F1 and use a
menu/pick list to move around your hard disk to pick a
directory or file.
Many new options have been added to the SETUP/GENERAL and the
SETUP/MODEM menus, to allow for all the new features.
There is now an auto-save for the setup. If you exit, when
changes have been made to the setup, it is automatically
saved, if this feature is disabled then CU will ask you if
wish to save the setup at exit.
Some new Dot Commands have been added to the keyboard macros.
Currently there are only few, these are:
.INIT - Initialises the modem.
.CHAT - Goes into chat mode.
.DOS - Shells to DOS
.EDITOR - Runs the editor defined in
SETUP/FILES
More will be added as requested.
Pressing LEFT or RIGHT cursor keys in the Dialling Directory
now acts the same as pressing the V(iew) key.
In the SETUP/FILENAMES menu if one of the paths do not exist
it now asks you if you wish to create them.
Added some more window frame types in SETUP/SCREEN/FRAMES
menu.
Added the INSERT/OVERWRITE function into all the input fields,
previously there was no facility to overwrite.
You now have complete access to the menu system in chatmode
with a only few items, that clash, disabled.
Added a new check to make sure of no clashes between the modem
and mouse when you select your com port.
Added a new field to the SETUP/MODEM menu for an international
dial code/prefix. Placing a "+" in the phone number field of a
dialling record will substitute this data in the setup field
for the "+". at dial time.
Fixed a bug which garbled the screen when you returned from a
DOS shell in 43/50 line mode.
Fixed the Find function in the Dialling Directory which would
not find past the first entry.
Fixed the RINGING and RRING bug in the Dialling Directory
dialling loop, which made Communiqué recycle the dial.
Fixed a bug with the PROTOCOL.CDF version checking. If this
file is for the wrong version CU will properly exit or give
error message.
