  29. ABOUT SHAREWARE...
  30.    
  31. Shareware (also known as user-supported software) is a concept not
  32. understood by everyone.  The authors of Shareware retain all rights to
  33. the software under the copyright laws while still allowing free
  34. distribution.  This gives the user a chance to freely obtain and try out
  35. the software to see if it meets his needs.  Shareware should not be
  36. confused with Public Domain software, which is free software, even
  37. though they are often obtained from the same sources.

  39. If you continue to use Shareware after trying it out, you are expected
  40. to register your usage with the author by paying the registration fee.
  41. What you get in return depends on the author, but may include a printed
  42. manual, free updates, telephone support, etc.  Only by paying for the
  43. Shareware you use do you enable the author to continue to support his
  44. software and create new programs.  Considering that the Shareware
  45. registration fees are almost always far less than the purchase price of
  46. comparable commercial software, it's obvious that Shareware is a good
  47. deal for everyone.

  49. There are real advantages to you in the Shareware system.  You get to
  50. try out software to make sure it is compatible with your hardware and
  51. that it fits your needs before you "buy" it with your registration.
  52. The author saves the expense of advertising, packaging and distribution
  53. and passes the savings on to you.  Plus, most Shareware authors are
  54. much more accessible than commercial software sources so that your
  55. questions and suggestions are much more likely to be responded to.
