Opinion: I feel that not only should the truck drivers take the test
but also anyone that drives a car. Until I took a course and found out the
rules that truckers have to go by, I was one of those drivers that rode on
the trailers rear bumber impatiently waiting to get around. I have much more
respect for the BIG trucks now.
Auto drivers: Take the test if you can.
*****************************************************************************
Programs that should be with the General Knowledge test are as follows:
'GTEST.EXE' - The Main Program
'PRINT.COM' - Prints The Q-xx.TXT Files
'GREADME.DOC' - This File
'Q-34.TXT' - Diagram For Question 34
'Q-38.TXT' - Diagram For Question 38
'Q-99.TXT' - Diagram For Question 99
'REGISTER.DOC' - Comments / Donations Form
'NEWVER.DOC' - Things changed since previous version
To run the General Knowledge Test you only need to type at the
prompt: gtest (e.g. C:\>gtest and press enter/CR key)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would appreciate it if everyone would keep all files intact,
as they are, in unmodifyed form. If there are any comments, use the
form provided with the program package, 'REGISTER.DOC'. Thanks!
You should first before taking the 'General Knowledge' test run the
'print.bat' program to print out the diagrams for 3 questions in the
'General Knowledge' test. You will need to refer to these diagrams to
answer the 3 questions.
Remember: I'm no artist but I think these will give you the idea.
If you either don't have a printer, or the print.bat doesn't work,
you will need to 'TYPE' the q-xx.txt to the screen and draw the diagram
on paper. I haven't yet incorporated the drawings into the program.
EXAMPLE: C>TYPE Q-34.TXT (THEN HIT ENTER OR CARRAGE RETURN)
With the government making the CDL manditory I felt that there
may be the need for a helper program in the preperation for taking the
CDL written tests. So far the only helpers I have written is for the
'General Knowledge' - 'AirBrakes Test' - 'Combination Vehicles' and
'Hazordous Materials'.
Just in case you wondered, yes, I do have my CDL with all
Endorsements with one exception 'Passenger Bus'.
I hope to make it a bit easier on others than it was for
me. (It was VERY costly). Especially when you consider that
it was both my wife and I that were schooled to pass the CDL.
These programs will in no way be all you need for preperation, but are
designed to help in the progress of the knowledge required. Some of the
questions may be on your test and some may not. You will need to refer to
your states CDL preperation testing booklet to get the rest of the
knowledge you need to pass the written tests.
There are Seven possible tests. Three are manditory for the CDL for
Semi-trucks and two are required for straight truck CDL, the rest
are Endorsements:
'General Knowledge'
'AirBrakes'
'Combination Vehicles'
'Doubles & Triples'
'Tanker Vehicles'
'Hazardous Materials'
'Passanger Bus'
There is also one other test you should know, the DOT test. This consists
of 66 questions. If I notice that there is a real need for the programs
stated here, I will continue to write the others. Including the DOT test.
Please suppot my efforts, if you find this program usefull please send
a donation of whatever you can afford to:

At this point, untill I see that there is a need for my programs I'll
wait to see if anyone uses them before I write the rest.
Thanks for your support!
