README FILE Latest Update: September 15, 1992
This README file contains the latest information about Calendar Creator Plus
version 5.0.
(1) You MUST specify a printer before printing a calendar
Select File | Printer Setup to specify your printer.
(2) Duplex printing
Manufacturers of many duplex printers recommend using 8.5 x 11" or
8.5 x 14" paper, only, for duplex printing. To print two sides of
calendars on smaller pages, turn off Duplex Printing in the Printer
Setup dialog in order to use the printer as a simplex (one-side-at-a-
time) printer.
(3) Low memory when printing
If you get the message "Unable to complete the selected operation.
Not enough available memory." when printing or previewing your calendar,
try this: Exit from Calendar Creator Plus, then run the program and try
printing again. Exiting and returning may free up memory that the program
needs for printing.
(4) Error message: "Cannot continue with double sided printing. Not enough
available memory."
This message may indicate that Calendar Creator Plus is unsuccessfully
attempting to use the Print Spooler when printing.
(a) Select File | Set Defaults
(b) Look at the Print Spooler disk drive.
If it's a hard drive, make sure the drive letter is valid. You
cannot spool to a network drive, or to a drive that your computer
doesn't have, or to a drive that is full.
If the Use Disk Drive field is blank, enter your emptiest hard
drive's drive letter, and Calendar Creator Plus will be able to
print larger, more complex calendars in the future.
If it's a floppy drive, check that there is a formatted floppy
disk in the drive and that the disk is not write protected and not
almost full. We suggest that you don't spool to a floppy disk.
(5) Layout Options dialog: "Overflow Minimum Size" is now "Smallest Scaled
Text."
Enter the smallest point size that Calendar Creator Plus can use
when reducing the text for the Small Calendar and for events on
overflow dates. This option does not affect how small the program
can scale text, as specified with the Scale Event Size option.
(6) Error message: "Not a valid pathname" when you attempt to set a path to
a network drive.
Check whether you've specified the drive and path correctly. Sometimes
network path names are very long, and easy to make a typing mistake in.
If you have specified the path correctly, and still get the message,
check if there are any files in that directory. If the directory is
empty, copy your event list to the network drive and try set path again.
(7) Postscript printing problems
If the printer prints nothing, or prints only the first page(s), or
prints garbage, you may have overloaded the printer's memory. Try
turning your printer off, then back on to clear extra typefaces or
data stored there by a previous program. If this doesn't work, we
recommend revising your calendar to use smaller fonts, fewer typefaces,
and no boldfacing.
(8) Using SETUPCC after installing Calendar Creator Plus
After installing Calendar Creator Plus, you can use SETUPCC to add
clipart and to add or remove fonts. You don't have to run SETUPCC
from your floppy disks -- run it from your Calendar Creator Plus
directory instead. To do this:
(a) Switch to the directory where you normally run Calendar
Creator Plus
(b) Type SETUPCC and follow its onscreen instructions.
(9) Printing to Canon BubbleJet or Epson LQ printers using Legal or A4
cut sheet papers
Make sure to eject the extra paper fed into printer before starting
each print job.
