  4. Inspired by Banned Book Week '92, this is a list of computer material
  5. that was banned or challenged in academia in 1992. Iowa State
  6. University has the dubious distinction of being listed most often
  7. (three times).

  9. The list proper starts after a list of the academic institutions where
  10. bans or challenges have occurred. The list proper is followed by
  11. instructions on how to get more information about specific incidents
  12. and then by instructions on how to get general information about
  13. computers and academic freedom.

  248.      restricted list, while discussion of drugs and drug policy were

  467. court ruling goes into detail about the difference between protected
  468. offensive expression and illegal harassment. It even mentions email.

  471. remarkable document in the Constitution but it was ratified only with
  472. the promise of the Bill of Rights.  The First Amendment is central to
  473. our concept of freedom.  The God-given "unalienable rights" that the
  474. infant nation rallied to in the Declaration of Independence can be
  475. preserved only if their application is rigorously analyzed.

  477. The problems of bigotry and discrimination sought to be addressed here
  478. are real and truly corrosive of the educational environment.  But
  479. freedom of speech is almost absolute in our land and the only
  480. restriction the fighting words doctrine can abide is that based on the

  482. the UW Rule, however well intended, simply cannot survive the
  483. screening which our Constitution demands."
