Welcome to yet another BBS list! A lot of things have happened in the last
month here in Charlottesville, so let me get right to the facts.
First of all, The Amiga Bandwidth has regretably moved out of town, and
future calls to that system will be long distance from Charlottesville/
Albemarle County. Out of courtesy to users who may be unaware of the
change and may wish to still call the board, I have included the new
numbers on the list. With the move, the board has reduced its number of
nodes from two down to one, with that single node being run off of a
14,400 USRobotics Dual-Standard modem. I've talked to Sysop Peter Clausen,
and he believes that he will be able to set up a local node for the board
sometime within the next month or so. The BBS list will of course reflect
any new local node number as it becomes available.
On to better news, there's a new board in town! Everyone should pay
a visit to the In Through the Out Door BBS, a new TriBBS board being run
by Sysops Sean and Missie Willey. The number is 973-1151, and the board
supports speeds of up to 9600 baud. It's a lot of fun! It's got messages,
files, and doors, and some of the friendliest hosts you'll ever meet.
Drop on by and tell them where you heard about them!
On another note, FIDO-Net is once again in a little bit of confusion here
in Charlottesville. With the departure of The Amiga Bandwidth, things are
a little confusing as to who the main hub will be, although it appears that
COMA has taken up this slack. At present, it appears that four boards will
be pulling FIDO-Net into Charlottesville in the near future -- COMA and The
Amiga Bandwidth (which will, as stated, hopefully have a local node soon),
which already do, and Trade Wars Only! and The Midnight Foundation.
Also, I'd like to announce the addition of a 340 Meg hard drive to The
Midnight Foundation, a much needed improvement which should put an end to
any storage problems for a long time. It also puts the storage capacity of
that board above one Gigabyte.
On a smaller note, the user database on The Midnight Foundation was lost
about two weeks into February. As such, any former users of the board who
have not logged in since the crash will need to log in as new users.
Well, that just about wraps up another newsletter! As always, any comments
and suggestions are appreciated. If you know about any new boards in town,
or are planning on setting up your own board, leave me (Todd McNoldy) a note
on just about any board in town (I frequent them all), or on my own board,
The Midnight Foundation, at 296-2066. Until next month... happy BBSing! :)
