  12. To install the 32-bit 8514 driver:
  13.  
  14. 1  Backup the \config.sys file
  15.  
  16. 2  Execute: INST8514.CMD [8514 installation files] [os2 boot drive]
  17.  
  18.    for example:
  19.                 A:> INST8514 a: c:
  20.  
  21.  
  22.    *  INST8514.CMD Copies:
  23.       a. 8514_32.DLL to the \OS2\DLL subdirectory
  24.       b. DSPRES.DLL  to the \OS2\DLL subdirectory
  25.       c. SWIN8514.DRV to the \OS2\MDOS\WINOS2\SYSTEM subdirectory
  26.       d. V8514.SYS   to the \OS2\MDOS subdirectory
  27.  
  28.    *  INST8514.CMD executes 32BITINI.EXE to Edit the OS2.INI file
  29.       PM_DISPLAYDRIVERS entry to:
  30.       a. Create key 8514_32 with a value of 8514_32.
  31.       b. Set CURRENTDRIVER to 8514_32.
  32.  
  33. 3. In \CONFIG.SYS change:  DEVICE=x:\OS2\MDOS\V8514A.SYS
  34.                       to:  DEVICE=x:\OS2\MDOS\V8514.SYS
  35.    (different names, so it's easy to keep both around)

  37. 5  Reboot.

  41. To switch back to the 16-bit driver:
  42.  
  43. 1  Restore the original Config.sys file (saved in above step)
  44.  
  45. 2  Execute 16BITINI:
  46.    -  16BITINI.EXE Edits the OS2.INI file PM_DISPLAYDRIVERS entry and set
  47.       CURRENTDRIVER back to IBM8514.

  49. 3  Reboot.

  54. CURRENT KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THE 32-BIT 8514:

  58. abstract      PM Chart: Corruption of the work area
  59.  
  60. Open PM Chart.  Open an existing file.  A secondary window comes
  61. up with the title "File - Open."  The box with the file mask to be
  62. found is corrupted with vertical lines.
  63.  
  64. After drawing shapes in the work area, the same type of vertical
  65. line corruption occurs.

  69. abstract      PM Excel: Spreadsheet corruption
  70.  
  71. Open PM Excel and bring in an existing spreadsheet.  The following
  72. problems were found.
  73.  
  74. 1. Highlight a group of cells containing text.  If you change the color
  75. of the cells (using the Patterns option from the Format menu), only
  76. the first cell changes correctly.  The others contain an incorrect
  77. striped color.  If you modify the text by selecting "bold" and
  78. "italics", the rest of the group, except the first, disappear.  This
  79. also occurs when changing the color of the text.

  81. 2. Create a chart.  Overlay the modified text (i.e., those cells
  82. that were bolded).  The bolded text corrupts - it turns into Z's
  83. and 0's.

  87. abstract      FVT: Seamless Paintbrush: Cut/Copy/Paste corruption

  89. Open a seamless Paintbrush session.
  90.  
  91. If you Cut or Copy an image and Paste it, the image
  92. appears in the upper left corner to await moving
  93. to its final destination.  When you move it, a shadow of the
  94. edit pulldown menu remains and overlays any image that
  95. may exist in the upper left corner.

  99. abstract      FVT: Repaint problems when clipping 2 seamless apps

  101. Open Paintbrush and load a bitmap.
  102. Open CorelDraw.
  103. Overlay the windows so part of one is on part of the other.
  104. Clip back and forth, bringing each to the foreground one at a
  105. time.
  106.  
  107. As you do this, the Paintbrush bitmap does not repaint correctly
  108. in both the foreground and the background.  Only portions of the
  109. bitmap will appear or it will turn half black.
  110.  
  111. This is a seamless problem.

  115. abstract      FVT: Seamless CorelDraw: Palette bar corruption - wrong colors

  117. Open a seamless session of CorelDraw.
  118.  
  119. The main palette bar and all other palette
  120. displays are corrupted.  The colors are wrong and
  121. some have stripes.

  123. The colors are wrong and striped in the graphs in PM Chart
  124. and the colors for cells and text in PM Excel.

  126. This is a seamless problem.

  131. abstract      Photo Finish 8514/A locks system

  133. For 8514/A running Photo Finish will lock up the system when
  134. using the tools on the app. such as zoom or move.  Clicking on
  135. either scroll bar of the picture will also lock the system.  This
  136. does not happen on the 8514 Ultra card.

  140. abstract      Text is Garbled in Winfracrt in seamless
  141.  
  142. The text of the windows app Winfract is "Garbled" when I run it
  143. seamlessly.  This doens't happen in SVGA or 8515.  I was running
  144. on a 8514 monitor and a ibm 8514 card.
