  1. 550_UTIL.ZIP contains 3 utilities for the
  2. 16550 UART.  IS16550.EXE tests for the 
  3. presence of a 16550 on ports COM1: - COM4:.
  4. 16550.EXE turns the 16550 FIFO on or off to
  5. fix when programs leave the FIFO on at exit
  6. (this can cause the port to not exist upon
  7. a warm reboot or other programs to not 
  8. recognize the port.  COMM.BAT shows use of 
  9. 16550JHH.EXE and NU Batch Enhancer to turn
  10. off the 16550 FIFO upon exit from TELIX.
