PKUNLITE - Professional PKLITE UnPacker Utility v2.00
(C) 1992 by The Software Surgeon
This update from version 1.00 of my little reverse-compression utility
was written to allow it to work on files which have had the normal PKLITE
exe-header flags altered by peckerheads obsessed with editing-out the PKWARE
text-messages in the compressed file. This version allows for an optional
"-i" parameter, which simply means "ignore" the exe-header flags and attempt
the reverse-compression anyway...
While I was at it, I went ahead and added the ability to reverse-compress
files which were shrunk via 'normal' PKLITE compression (ie: when you don't
specify the "-e" option during compression). Why was this necessary, since
PKLITE itself can reverse these files? Well, if one of the affore-mentioned
peckerheads altered the PKWARE text-messages in even a 'normal' file, PKLITE
would refuse to reverse the compression since it couldn't identify the file.
This version handles those situations as well...
Oh, yeah... I also changed the way in which I write the output .EXP file's
decompressed-header, adding back in all those meaningless zero's usually found
in the relocation-table. Now the output .EXP file should be pretty damn close
to the original .EXE program, before it was PKLITEd.
The syntax is pretty simple; just type "PKUNLITE" without parameters for
the exact format. The input-file defaults to an .EXE extension, and the
output file is written with an .EXP extension, thus preserving the original
file intact...
Enjoy...
