Here is where you change information about yourself (name,ì
address, password, etc.) as well as about your terminal program.
Fido will remember these settings each time you log in.
* Enter "N?" for help with the N)ame command
* Enter "P?" for help with the P)assword command
.
.
* And so on for all the commands you see in the menu.
(Don't enter the quotes, just the command letter and theì
questionmark.)
\N
N)ame. Enter a new Name, up to 3 words; you may now enter aì
middle name or initial with your first and last names. Fidoì
checks that the name you select isn't already in the callerì
database.
\A
A)ddress. Enter a new Address (max. - 35 characters.); minimum isì
the City, State from which you are calling.
\P
P)assword. Enter a new one-word Password; use 4 or moreì
characters.
\H
H)elp-level. Enter a new Help level; there are three levels ofì
help. When you first log in, you get LEVEL 3.
LEVEL 3: FULL HELP. All prompts show the full command names;ì
various commands display information as you use them; in general,ì
Fido is more "wordy".
LEVEL 2: SOME HELP. Prompts show only the first letter of eachì
command; Fido is a lot less "wordy", but you are still promptedì
for each item needed.
LEVEL 1: NO HELP. Prompts are single, unhelpful prompts, such as:ì
"Command (?=help: )" . It is assumed you that understand Fidoì
completely.
\C
Columns. Set the number of characters your screen can show on oneì
line. Fido initially assumes that you have 80 columns.
\L
L)ines. Set you Screen Lines in lines. Fido initially assumesì
your screen has 24 lines.
Normally, Fido pauses every screenful when displaying text andì
prompts "More[Y,n]"; you can press "Y" or [CR] to continue, "N"ì
or Control-C to stop.
To disable this, set L)ines to 0.
\I
I)nterface. If other languages or interfaces are available,ì
prompts you to choose one.
\F
F)iller-Nulls. Prompts you for the number of null characters ì
(ASCII 0 decimal) that your terminal program needs after each newì
line. Fido initially assumes none needed.
This is needed only for very special cases; if you are ì
consistently missing text at the left edge of your screen, tryì
changing this value.
