║ MCS Stereo ║
║ for Windows ║
╙─────────────╜
by Tony Curro
MS Windows v3.1 allows the user to play various sound files, and
audio CD-ROMs. This requires the user to activate the Media Player
from Windows Accessories Group. It does do the job, but it is a
plain drab box with very few options. Animotion has changed that.
They have released a program that any serious user should have.
MCS Stereo is an excellent addition to your sound library. MCS
stands for Multimedia Component System. Once started, MCS Stereo
resembles a complete stereo rack system, right on your screen. It
allows complete control over every aspect of your sound files. It
has players for: WAV, MIDI, and audio CD. There is also a slide bar
sound control to alter the volume of each component. There is also
extensive on-line help and interactive tutorials, including right
button context-sensitive help.
MCS Stereo will come up in two environments: Standard, and Enhanced.
Standard provides access to all components from within one window.
Enhanced, provides separate windows for each component, and provides
advanced sound control and manipulation features. You can easily
switch between the two by one mouse click. While Standard launches
all components, you can close those you do not wish to use. Of
course, if you do not have a CD-ROM drive, you will not see that
option.
You can select files to play, or the sequence of tracks from a CD.
For those who like to keep track of their music library there is
mediaLink. MCS Stereo's medialink is a comprehensive tool for
storing and maintaining all your CD, WAV, MIDI, tape and record
titles. It generates dBase compatible files to generate detailed
reports on your music library.
Components include:
Mixing Console -- controls all available input in your PC.
CD Player -- full featured compact disc player.
Digital recorder -- play and record digital WAV files.
MIDI Player -- plays MIDI files.

simple to operate and a pleasure to work with. It could very well be
the only SOUND addition you need. It is available at major software
dealers.
