Welcome to the Comic Book Fanatics DataBase.
Version 3.2

---------------------------------------------------------------
Ok you fanatics, here it is.
This program may be small in size, but it is powerful in results.
Ok first:
1 ... Create a directory off of your c:\ drive called COMICS.
ie md c:\comics
2 ... Put all of the comic files in that directory.
The following files should be with this package:
Comics.doc
Comics.exe ( which will create Comics.dat )
( Option 'C' To Create A New DataBase )
3 ... type 'Comics' to start.
After the welcome screen you will see a menu and from there you will have to
Create A New DataBase. ( First Time Users Only! ) It will create a new
database in the comics directory and will also read from that directory also.
When it asks you to enter the comic name please enter it spelled correctly.
This Version can now be run from any directory as long as the file Comics.dat
is in the same directory. There is really no more need for this to be run in
the C:\COMICS directory so therefore you can run it in any directory on any
drive you wish.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Menu Options are as follows :
A ... Add A Record
Here is where you can start adding your comics to the database.
It will prompt you for another record to add until you choose the
option of 'N' for no.
U ... Update A Record.
Here is where you can update your records as time go by.
It will prompt you for a record #, then it will search the base and
bring up the record for you. Then you may edit as you see fit.
If it doesn't find the record then you will be returned to the main
menu.
V ... View All Records.
Here is where you can view a record to see if it ok.
It will continue to prompt you to view the next record until
you choose 'N' or until it reaches the last record.
S ... Search For A Record.
Here is where you can search for a specific record. It is almost the
same as View A Record.
P ... Print Your DataBase.
Here is where all of your comic books will be printed out to the
printer. This is set only to LPT1. ( I have not tried it on other
printer ports yet so i do not know if it works on them yet. )
O ... Print One Record.
Here is where you can print just one record of your choice.
Not much here to say about this one, just like the Option P but with
one record in mind.
C ... Create A New Database.
Here is where you will start from the beginning. First time users
will have to choose this option in order to start a new database.
This will also creata a new database for you if you wish, BUT BE
CAREFUL, IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A DATABASE AND YOU CHOOSE THIS ONE THEN
IT WILL DESTROY ALL DATA IN THE OLD DATABASE AND WRITE A NEW ONE OVER
IT, AND YOU CAN'T EVEN RECOVER THE OLD ONE, SO BE VERY CAREFUL WITH
THIS OPTION!!!.
D ... Drop To Dos.
Here is where you can drop to dos and run another program if you wish
while the comic database is in memory. When you are done with what
you are doing then just tye EXIT to return to the menu screen of the
comics program. I find that this is a nice feature to have.
X ... Exit To Dos.
Here is where you can properly exit to your system safely.
This is the RECOMMENDED choice to exit properly without damaging
your database, or program.
B ... Statistics.
Here is where it shows you which disk drive you are on with the size
of the drive and how much has been used and how much is free.
It also gives you the DOS version number, Date, Time and the number
of records in your database.
