  31. (The "/'\" means a hammer-on/pull-off.  The (5) means a
  32. quick hammer on -- value of note is minute.  The 'V's above
  33. the staff mark accented notes.  Notice where the accents
  34. fall on the first few notes.  I suggest picking light and
  35. hammering hard on the second 5/'\7 to get that 'polyrhythmic'
  36. sound.)
  37.
  38. ..play this umpteen times, and just before the verse, the tail
  39. of the above goes something like:
  40.
  41. --------------------------------------------------------------

  47.
  48. During the verse, they play the muted low E string, with E5
  49. and D5 and Eb5 (with roots on the A string...)  There are two
  50. parts, and the second differs slightly from the first.  I
  51. leave my pointer finger barre across the G and D strings when
  52. playing the E5 and then lift off and hammer on my ring and pinky
  53. fingers back onto the G and D strings.  The little 'licks' that
  54. follow these are:
  55.
  56. 1st time:
  57.

  74. Just before the solo:

  88.
  89. (I'm pretty sure this very last part isn't right, but it's
  90. close.  Every other time, it changes, but I usually just
  91. improvise something else....)
  92.
  93. Following this are a bunch of chord punches, which, I believe,
  94. are 'E5's...During the solo, they do a slide from F#5 to G5 and
  95. a slide from G#5 to A5 and then finish it off with
  96. A5  G5  A5  G5  A5  G5  E5 and then off into the acoustical part.
  97.
  98. I'm positive on the acoustical part, but it mostly goes like:
  99.
  100. -------------0---3---0---3/'\0-----------------------1--0---1/'\0--
  101. ---------0-----------------------0---------------3-----------------
  102. -------------------------------------0-------2---------------------
  103. -----2-----------------------------------0-------------------------
  104. -------------------------------------------------------------------
  105. -0-----------------------------------------------------------------
  106.
  107.
  108. ----------
  109. ----------
  110. -2--------
  111. -----0----
  112. ----------
  113. ----------
  114.
  115. That's about all I can think of, as I don't have the tape here
  116. with me...Hope this helps...
