  2. 8  ADJUST  THE  FRONT  DERAILLEUR

  4.      The front  derailleur adjusts
  5. like the rear one. Look closely to
  6. find which limit screw does what.
  7.  
  8. 1. Make sure  the front derailleur
  9. cage is parallel  to and above the
  10. largest  front  sprocket  by  only
  11. about 2mm.
  12.  
  13. 2.  With  the  rear  derailleur in
  14. high, tighten the front derailleur
  15. high  gear screw  until you cannot
  16. shift into high  gear (large front
  17. sprocket).  Back   out  the  screw
  18. while   turning  the   pedals  and
  19. operating  the  shifter  until you
  20. just get a clean shift every time.

  24. 3.   Repeat  this   procedure  for
  25. shifting  down   to  the  smallest
  26. front sprocket, but  with the rear
  27. derailleur engaged in low gear.

  29. 4. Check all combinations of front
  30. and  rear gear  selection. You may
  31. have to compromise the adjustments
  32. a little to  get a clean  shift in
  33. all cases.
