What is BBSView:
===============
BBSView is an Archive viewer for use on all types of Bulletin Board
Systems. It allows users to view any Arc, Arj, Com, Exe, Lzh, Pak,
Zip, and Zoo file. I included MOST of the .EXE and .COM files that
these programs create for Self Extracting Archives. BBSView needs
150,000 bytes of memory free to run correctly. It removes itself
from memory when it shells so you only need about 170,000 bytes of
memory free to run any archiver along with this program!
Copyright:
=========
You can distribute this program as long as:
* Copyright is retained in the program and documentation
* No changes are made to the program
This program and its documentation are Copyright John Young 1/1993.
Liability of Use:
================
I am in no way responsible for any damages whether direct or indirect
to you or anything that you may own that might result from the use of
this program.
You being the user are responsible to make sure that you make a backup
of your hard disk before installing any new software.
Files Included in Archive:
=========================
BBSView.EXE ----> BBSView Executable
BBSView.DOC ----> Doc file you are reading now
BBSVcfg.EXE ----> Config/Setup program for BBSView.EXE
BBSView.HLP ----> Online Help File For BBSView.EXE
BBSViewA.HLP ----> Ansi Online Help File for BBSView.EXE
BBSVReg.Doc ----> Registration Form for you to SEND In.
BBSView.Key ----> If registered then will contain your encoded
BBS Name or it will contain Unregistered.
If Any of the above files are not included in the copy you received
then please notify about where and when you received the archive and
I will be more than happy to make it easy for you to get a legitimate
copy of the program.
Directions for Setup:
====================
The setup for this program is very simple. To setup BBSView you must
first run the Program Called BBSVcfg.exe. It should be contained in
the archive that you received.
There are choices numbered from 1 - 22. You will notice that some are
for color and the rest are for the archivers name and the command line
parameters that these programs use.
Choose the colors you want by selecting the number by your choice.
Follow the color guide and enter the color that you desire.
Important
*********
The next step is a little more difficult. There will be default
choices for each of the Extractors/Tester choices.
You can look at them and see if they are what you need, which they
should be, or you can change them to suit your needs.
To change the choice just edit them as you deem necessary. You can
include the path to the Archiver if it is not in your path. You will
notice that there are two(2) signs %1 and %2. You must have them for
the program to run correctly.
%1 = Archive Name
%2 = File to Extract
Example:
Pkunzip BBSView.Zip BBSView.Doc
/\ /\ /\
Archiver %1 %2
As you can see %1 = BBSView.zip, the archive you want to view, and %2
= BBSView.doc, the text file that you want to view.
To setup for the testing process you just do the same thing but only
using %1 and not %2.
%1 = Archive Name
BBSView.tmp must be after the > symbol.
Example:
Pkunzip -t BBSView.zip > BBSView.tmp
/\ /\ /\ /\ /\
Archiver Test %1 "Redirect to" Must be Here
Command Line:
============
On the Command line of the program you can specify the file name and
then the port number.
Example:
BBSView BBSView.zip 1
/\ /\ /\
Program Archive Port
You have to put the port last. In RBBS it would be %1 and then %3 in
the batch file.
Shareware:
=========
This program is not crippled in any way. It runs just like the one
on my BBS. If you use it for more than thirty days then I do request
that you pay the minimal fee of $15.00. When you pay this I will
either set you up on my BBS to download or mail you your own personal
copy of the software with your BBS name. You will also be given free
upgrades to the program. For these you must call the BBS. It will
cost too much to mail them out all of the time.
Send Check or Money Order for $15.00 to:

c/o BBSView Registration
You can call the BBS at any time and ask questions. There is a
conference setup for all users called BBSView. You can download the
latest Shareware Version there.

Changes:
=======
This is a complete rewrite of the Old BBSView. It will run on
any Bulletin Board System that has at least 150K free and has
an external viewing function. It now supports viewing of any
Archives within an Archive and also supports the new PKZip 2.04C.

Temp????.Dir. This containis important information about the current
