  11.    In short, this a "super trashcan" that deletes icons dropped into it, as
  12. opposed to the normal trashcan that is simply a directory on the disk.
  13. And, unlike some other similar programs, Trashmaster makes sure Workbench
  14. properly removes its icons..even if they are icons that Workbench made on
  15. the fly with the `Show  » All Files' option.

  17.    There are other programs out there, that do exactly the same things.  I
  18. don't think any of us have copied from each other, we just all had the same
  19. basic idea.  However, Trashmaster is much better than anything I've yet
  20. seen - its smaller (no big deal, though), and it handles things better.
  21. For instance, none of them seem to properly delete files if the icon is a
  22. "fake" icon created by the Workbench `Show » All Files' option (the icon
  23. never goes away).

  27.    This program is NOT public domain.  May be distributed freely, as long as
  28. this file is included.  You may not charge for distribution an amount
  29. higher then what Fred Fish currently charges for a disk.  You can steal any
  30. ideas that this program uses (see my solutions in the docs for getting this
  31. thing to work!).  :)

  33.    If you are so inclined, and have a conscience that compells to you to pay
  34. for everything you use (gee, wish there were more of you!), you may send:

  44.    There is NO garante for this program, I'm not responsible for any files
  45. mistakenly deleted in a fit of multiple-selection; or any problems as
  46. result of a bug, etc (though I will try to fix any bugs that come along)

  51.    Features of Trashmaster are as follows:

  53.    * It's really small.  In fact, the docs are bigger!
  54.  
  55.    * It's for 2.0 and above only.
  56.  
  57.    * It removes any file that Workbench lets you "drag and drop".
  58.  
  59.    * If the file has a real icon on disk, it is deleted.
  60.  
  61.    * Workbench removes the icon and closes any windows those icons might
  62.      have open.
  63.  
  64.    * If Workbench had the `Show  » All Files' option on, even the "fake"
  65.      icons generated dynamicly will be removed from display.
  66.  
  67.    * If the file can't be deleted (another program locked it or maybe it
  68.      has an assignment to it), Trashmaster will put the icon back.

  70.    * You can delete things interactively - confirming each file to be either
  71.      deleted, to skip and go to the next file, to delete the rest of the
  72.      files non-interactively or finaly to abort the whole thing.

  74.    * You can format disks.

  76.    * You can force-delete protected files.

  106.    I intend to write more utilities like this one, that use AppIcons.  I
  107. also have several ideas for extensions to Workbench and intuition in
  108. general.  Eventualy, I will finish my Interface builder program.  Stay
  109. tuned.

  111.    Possible future additions to TrashMaster:
  112.  
  113.    * CLI command, that works like the Delete command, but also deletes
  114.      icons and makes Workbench remove them from display.
  115.  
  116.    * Version for ToolManager that makes an icon on a dock.
  117.  
  118.    * "Trash Management".  Options to place files into trashcans, periodic
  119.      "trash collection" to delete older files in the trashcans, etc.
  120.  
  121.    * Localization under Workbench 2.1 and up.  I just need the include
  122.      files and such, and some interpreters.

  124.    * Preferences editor

  126.    * "Wipe"  option  -  writes  0's throughout deleted files to ensure the
  127.      data cannot be recovered.  Might be usefull for security reasons.

  129.    I've had a few people suggest some of these things (as well as some of
  130. things in the latest version).  The more "yays" I hear on these or other
  131. suggestions, the more likely I will spend time implementing them.  So
  132. please speak up if you like what you see.

  164.      the default delete mode when `VERIFY' is used.  Fixed bug that caused
  165.      a crash if you renamed Trashmaster, fixed bug that wouldn't delete a
  166.      file in a directory if it had only an .info file.
