  1. THE WOODLAND TREASURY: READ ME TEXT

  3. We strongly urge you read this document before you use the
  4. Woodland Treasury.
  5.  
  6. 1. Wordprocessing Software
  7.  
  8. The Woodland Treasury resource files are designed to run with
  9. the resident !Draw and !Edit software on the Acorn Computer.
  10.  
  11. If you have other software which can handle these filetypes
  12. you will be able to read the resources with it as well.
  13.  
  14. You do not need to set up any paths or printer settings to use
  15. the resources. On newer Acorn you will not need to carry out any
  16. system merge however on older machines you will have to use the
  17. Merge System Files utility before you start as with any other
  18. software application.

  20. 2. Video Files
  21.  
  22. The Woodland Treasury contains a collection of video files. To be
  23. able to watch the videos you need Acorn's Replay movie library.
  24. The play modules for these are on the CDROM. 
  25.  
  26. If you have not played video on your computer before you will
  27. have to install these. 
  28.  
  29. Memory
  30.  
  31. When running, the Woodland Treasury needs memory to run both the
  32. search interface your resource reading software. Please shut down
  33. any other applications you are running, especially if you only have
  34. 4Mb of RAM. Some of the topic files have a number of pictures in
  35. them and may take some time to load on slower machines.

  38. Viewing Topics
  39.  
  40. When viewing a topic you should close the file before returning to
  41. the search interface. If you do not do this each time you open a
  42. new topic more memory will be used up and eventually you will run
  43. out of memory.

  45. Topics List and Paths of Topic Files
  46.  
  47. There are two useful text files in the top-level on the CD Rom. 
  48.  
  49. 1. TOPICS This contains lists of all the topics under their class
  50.    headings.
  51.  
  52. 2. FILES  This contains a single list of all the topics and their
  53.    file paths.
  54.  
  55. Page Setup
  56.  
  57. The page set up used in the !Draw and !Edit files has been done using a
  58. standard blank page template with a 2.0cm margin at the top and a 2.5cm
  59. margin on both sides and at the bottom. Most printers have a print area
  60. that prints this page out normally. If your printer has settings narrower
  61. than this page area however some re-formatting may occur. This may lead
  62. to a blank page being printed out on occasion or a diagram moving onto a
  63. second page. We cannot control your printer or printer offset but we have
  64. tried to make the page size as standard as we can.

  66. Starting The Woodland Treasury

  68. When you start the program you will see a title screen. Click on the lock
  69. of the treasure chest to enter the topics section.Remember that the videos
  70. and maps are started from separate icons in the program groups.

  72. Displaying The Woodland Treasury
  73.  
  74. If Woodland Treasury appears not to be displaying properly on the screen,
  75. make sure your computer is set to the correct Screen Mode. We recommend
  76. Mode 28 as a default.

  80. The application has no user guide. However, if you feel the need for
  81. further help please contact us directly. Email is our preferred method.
