  4. About MissingMetrics
  5. --------------------
  6. MissingMetrics (MM) was originally written for the first beta
  7. version of Windows 95 (Chicago back then) to expose some settings
  8. which were not yet available through the User Interface at that
  9. time. Well, some of these settings are still not available in
  10. Windows 95's late betas and probably won't make it into the
  11. released product. So it looks like MM is not yet entirely
  12. obsolete (something I had expected to happen months ago).

  14. MM version 1.0 was in limited distribution only. But since
  15. Windows 95 is now available to everyone and a need for MM still
  16. exists, I decided to release this version 1.01 without any
  17. restrictions and with some Chicago Beta warnings removed.

  19. For Version 1.0 owners: There are NO new features in 1.01.

  21. Features
  22. --------
  23. The following settings can be changed with MissingMetrics:

  25. 1. Minimized Icons
  26.    These settings affect minimized icons such as the buttons on
  27.    the Taskbar, minimized MDI windows and windows which minimize
  28.    to the Desktop instead of the Taskbar.
  29.  
  30. 2. Icon Spacing
  31.    Note: The early Windows 95 betas didn't have a User Interface
  32.    to set the Icon Spacing, but this did change. You can now also
  33.    access these settings on the Desktop Properties->Appearance
  34.    dialog.

  36. 3. Window Animation
  37.    If you don't like the 'flickering' that goes on if you
  38.    mini/maximize a window, you can turn it of with this setting.
  39.    It also helps speeding up these actions.

  42. Please note: While MissingMetrics doesn't use any dirty
  43. programming tricks, it's just software and therefore can have
  44. errors. So, USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

  46. MissingMetrics is Freeware and can be distributed wherever you
  47. want.
