  9. This is the latest version of FlashPoint Windows ZIP Navigator.
  10.  
  11.     =============================================================
  12.     The file ZIPNAV.EXE is a self extracting Windows archive file
  13.     which must be expanded to a temporary directory on your hard
  14.     drive before FPSETUP.EXE is ran.
  15.     =============================================================
  16.  
  17. To install this product on your system, do the following:
  18.  
  19.   1.  Make a backup copy of your WINFILE.INI, REG.DAT and any
  20.       existing FPZIP.INI files -- BEFORE RUNNING FPSETUP.EXE.  If
  21.       you have customized your ZipNAV File Manager pull-down menu
  22.       settings, you will need to edit the new WINFILE.INI by
  23.       transfering your menu commands from your old copy of WINFILE.INI.
  24.       The editing can be performed using Windows Notepad.
  25.  
  26.   2.  Close any running copies of Windows File Manager.  The setup
  27.       program installs a new ZIPNAV File Manager Extension (FPZFMX.DLL),
  28.       and if you are already running an old version of this DLL it will
  29.       be replaced with the new version.  If the new file is copied over a
  30.       copy currently in use by File Manager, your system will become
  31.       unstable and you may experience some General Protection errors --
  32.       this problem is cured, if it occurs, by simply exiting and then
  33.       restarting Windows.  If Windows refuses to let you overwrite the
  34.       FPZFMX.DLL or any other file, exit to DOS and manually copy same from
  35.       the tempory directory to the applicable target directory (see,
  36.       FP_NEWS!.WRI for a description of where each file is installed).

  38.  
  39.   3.  Run ZIPNAV.EXE (e.g., by double-clicking on the file's name
  40.       in File Manager, or using the "Run" command available on the
  41.       File Menu of Windows' Program or File Manager).  This will expand
  42.       all installation files to a user specified temporary directory.
  43.       If you're reading this message, you've already completed this step.
  44.  
  45.   4.  Run FPSETUP.EXE (e.g., by double-clicking on the file's name
  46.       in File Manager, or using the "Run" command available on the
  47.       File Menu of Windows' Program or File Manager).  This will start
  48.       the FlashPoint Windows ZIP Setup program.  This application is loaded
  49.       automatically, in normal installations, if you ran ZIPNAV.EXE as
  50.       stated in Step 3, above.
  51.  
  52.   5.  Answer the prompts that display on your screen as FPSETUP runs.
  53.  
  54.       ------------------------------------------------------------
  55.       Upgrade Note:  If you have an earlier version of any of the
  56.       FPZIP, ZIP Tools, or ZipNAV applications installed on your
  57.       system, you will be prompted as to whether the existing
  58.       files should be overwritten.  You should allow the install
  59.       program to overwrite all files, except an existing FPZIP.INI
  60.       configuration file.

  63.    6.  Edit your new WINFILE.INI file, as indicated in item 1, above.
  64.  
  65.    7.  Add the FlashPoint ZipNAV application directory path to the
  66.        "PATH=" statement in your DOS AUTOEXEC.BAT file, if the
  67.        applications were not installed in an existing directory
  68.        referenced in your AUTOEXEC.BAT "PATH=" statement.
  69.  
  70.    8.  Exit to DOS, reboot your computer and then reload Windows, so
  71.        that the new settings will take effect.
  72.  
  73.    9.  Delete all files in the temporary directory from which you installed
  74.        this product.

  78.       Additional Installation Instructions for Windows 3.0 Users

  111.     Quick Start for Working with Existing Zip Archives
  112.     --------------------------------------------------
  113.  
  114. When ZIP files are associated with FlashPoint Windows ZIP Filer or ZIPX, a
  115. simple double-click with the mouse or pressing the ENTER key while a ZIP
  116. filename is selected, in FlashPoint's WinNAV or Windows File Manager shell,
  117. will execute the associated program and load the selected ZIP file for
  118. processing.
  119.  
  120. By default, the FlashPoint ZipNAV Setup program, if used to install ZipNAV,
  121. associated all files having a "ZIP" file extension with FlashPoint's Zip
  122. Filer application (WZF.EXE).  Therefore, if you double-click on any file
  123. name in Windows File Manager that has a "ZIP" file extension, FlashPoint's
  124. Zip Filer will be executed and the selected archive file will be loaded
  125. for further processing (e.g., viewing, unzipping, etc.).

  127. Refer to the applicable shell or file manager application's user manual or
  128. the Microsoft Windows User Guide, for information on how to associate files.

  131.                      Uninstalling Zip Navigator Files
  132.                      --------------------------------
  133.  
  134. The standard FlashPoint ZipNAV installation can be uninstalled by following
  135. these steps:
  136.  
  137.     1.  Delete the following files, if installed, from the FlashPoint ZipNAV
  138. directory:
  139.  
  140.      WIZ.EXE            WZF.EXE             OPT.EXE
  141.      FPZIP.EXE          FPZIPX.EXE          FPZXX.EXE
  142.      FPZIP.WRI          DISCOUNT.TXT        CIS.ICO
  143.      FP_NEWS!.WRI       FPVIEW.EXE          FPZIP.HLP
  144.      FPZSYS.EXE         COMPUSRV.TXT
  145.  
  146.     2.    Delete the following files from the Windows directory:
  147.  
  148.      FPZIP.INI
  149.  
  150.     3.    Delete the following files from the Windows System directory:
  151.  
  152.      FPZGRM.DLL         FPZHRM.DLL          FPZFMX.DLL
  153.      FPZSMM.DLL         FPZSFX.DLL

  155. Note: If the ZipNAV File Manager Extension is installed, you will have to
  156. close the Windows File Manager before you can delete the FPZFMX.DLL file --
  157. this may require you to exit Windows and delete the file from the DOS
  158. command prompt.

  160.     4.    Delete the zip extension association line (referencing WZF.EXE) from
  161. the [Extensions] section of your WIN.INI file (located in the Windows
  162. directory), using a text editor such as NOTEPAD.EXE.  See the Microsot Windows
  163. Users' Guide for additional information on WIN.INI file associations.

  166.     5.    Delete the zip extension association information (referencing WZF.EXE)
  167. from the your REG.DAT file (located in the Windows directory), if any, using
  168. REGEDIT.EXE.  See the Microsoft Windows Users' Guide for additional information
  169. on using REGEDIT.EXE.
  170.  
  171.     6.    Delete the [FlashPoint ZIP] section from the your WINFILE.INI file
  172. (located in the Windows directory), if any, using a text editor such as
  173. NOTEPAD.EXE.  Also delete the line refering to FPZFMX.DLL.

  175.     7.    Exit and restart Microsoft Windows.
