- Video Enhanced DOS Screen from Tech/Type Typeface Products
- Pre-Release Notes - beta 3 release 4/27/95
- ----------------------------------------------------------
- Video Enhanced DOS Screen is a unique new typeface (mistakenly called a font)
- that contains the text-mode character set of IBM« compatible PC's (sometimes
- referred to as the PC-8 or OEM character set). Video Enhanced DOS Screen
- (VEDOS) is available in both TrueType or PostScript Type 1 formats, compatible
- with Microsoft Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows NT; and Adobe Type
- Manager for Windows and OS/2.
-
- VEDOS was designed to match the character dimensions of the popular Video
- Terminal Screen series, also from Tech/Type. However, the character outlines
- are distinctly different between the two. Where Video Terminal Screen
- characters were designed to appear as if they were formed out of an array of
- square pixels; VEDOS characters are smoothed and rounded, in the style of a
- gothic sans serif face similar to Letter Gothic or a monospaced version of
- Franklin Gothic. VEDOS may be used in place of Video Terminal Screen in
- documents that were originally designed with Video Terminal Screen.
