  14. <h1> Choosing to create a hot-spare drive</h1>
  15. <p>Hot-spare drives
  16. supply additional protection to a RAID configuration. If a
  17.   physical drive fails in configurations other than RAID level-0,
  18.   the hot-spare drive automatically replaces the failed physical drive. Subsequently,
  19.   the logical device can be rebuilt using the hot spare.</p>
  20. <p><b><img src="images/note.gif" width="15" height="17"> Note:</b> You cannot use
  21.   hot-spare drives with RAID level-0.</p>
  22. <p>You can create a hot-spare drive in the Configuration wizard when you first
  23.   configure the controller. If you choose not to create a hot-spare
  24.   drive at that time, you can create the hot-spare at another time. <br>
