  15.   between Express and Custom configuration</h1>
  16. <p> In the Configuration wizard, you can choose from two paths to configure your
  17.   controller:<br>
  18. <ul>
  19.   <li>Click <b>Express configuration</b> for a quick and easy path for you to
  20.     automatically configure your controller. This path creates the most efficient
  21.     configuration based on the number and capacity of the ready physical drives
  22.     available in your system. If four or more ready drives of the same capacity
  23.     are available, this choice also will define a <a href="ghsd.htm">hot-spare
  24.     drive</a>.
  25.     <p> Express configuration does the following:</p>
  26.     <ul>
  27.       <li>Creates one logical device, up to 2 terabytes (TB) maximum, by grouping
  28.         together same-sized physical drives. <br>
  29.         <b><br>
  30.         <img src="images/note.gif" width="15" height="17"> Note: </b> If the physical
  31.         drive size exceeds 2TB, Express configuration removes drives until the
  32.         size is less than 2 TB. It creates an additional logical device with the
  33.         left-over drive(s). <br>

  36.       <li>Assigns a RAID level based on the number of available physical drives:<br>
  37.         <br>
  38.         <ul>
  39.           <li>A logical device with a single physical drive is assigned RAID level-0.</li>
  40.           <li>A logical device with two physical drives is assigned RAID level-1.
  41.           </li>
  42.           <li> A logical device with three physical drives is assigned RAID level-5.<br>

  47.         controllers, Express configuration creates a RAID level-1 logical device.<br>

  51.         drives are available, the largest drive will be designated the hot-spare
  52.         drive. <br>

  56.       choose Express configuration, you have the opportunity to review and approve
  57.       the configuration before the Adaptec Storage Manager applies the configuration.

  64.     your controller. Choose this path to do any of the following:<br>

  69.       <li>Select the <a href="wcfgldcc.htm">physical drives that you want to include

  74.       <li><a href="wadvstcc.htm">Fine tune your configuration</a> for optimal
