  14. <h1>Changing the alarm settings</h1>
  15. <p><img src="images/note.gif" width="15" height="17"><b> Note:</b> This action is not supported in bootable-CD mode.</p>
  16. <p> Warning and Error events cause an audible alarm to sound every five minutes,
  17.   notifying you of the event. Any Error or Warning event can trigger the alarm
  18.   if the event causes the system to enter the degraded state or the event arrives
  19.   while the system status is degraded. Once triggered, the repeating alarm continues
  20.   to sound as long as any system in the Adaptec Storage Manager Enterprise view is degraded.</p>
  21. <p>Some events, such as the non-warranted drive event, do not affect the system
  22.   status in the Enterprise view; if the system status is not degraded, these events
  23.   will not sound the alarm. <br>
  24. </p>
  25. <p>You can adjust the alarm settings with the following steps:</p>
  26. <ol>
  27.   <li>In the "User Preferences" window, click the <b>Alarm settings</b>
  28.     tab.<br>
  29.     <br>
  30.   </li>
  31.   <li>Select the check box to enable or disable the repeating alarm.<br>
  32.     <br>
  33.     <b><img src="images/note.gif" width="15" height="17"> Note: </b>If you disable
  34.     the alarm, you will not hear an audible alarm when you receive problem events.<br>
  35.     <br>
  36.   </li>
  37.   <li>If you have enabled the alarm, you can adjust the time interval (in seconds)
  38.     that you want between each alarm. The default is 300 seconds (5 minutes).<br>
  39.     <br>
  40.   </li>
  41.   <li>If you have enabled the alarm, you can adjust the length of time (in beeps)
  42.     that you want the alarm to continue. The default is 3 beeps.<br>
  43.     <br>
  44.   </li>
  45.   <li>Click <b>OK</b>.<br>
  46.     <br>
  47.   </li>
  48.   <li>Restart the Adaptec Storage Manager for these settings to take effect. </li>
