  21.   is not supported in bootable-CD mode.</p>
  22. <p>Use this action to configure The Adaptec Storage Manager agent general settings,
  23.   including the base port for the agent and console. The agent can log events
  24.   to the operating system event log, sound an alarm when an event occurs, and
  25.   broadcast events to users. If you enable event broadcasting, agents on Windows
  26.   machines will display pop-up alert dialogs when events occur. On Linux machines,
  27.   a message will be broadcast to all connected console processes using the 'wall'
  28.   command.</p>
  29. <p>You can adjust the agent general settings with the following steps:</p>
  30. <ol>
  31.   <li>In the "Adaptec Storage Manager Agent" window, click the <b>General
  32.     settings</b> tab.<br>

  35.   <li>In the Agent base port number field, enter the port number for the Adaptec Storage Manager agent and console. The default port is 34571.<br>

  37.     <b><img src="images/note.gif" width="15" height="17"> Note: </b>For accessing
  38.     remote systems, the Adaptec Storage Manager uses four consecutive ports starting
  39.     from the base port: 34571, 34572, 34573, and 34574. If your system has a conflict
  40.     with these ports, change the base port to a different port number.<br>

  43.   <li>To log events to the operating system event log, click <strong>Save events
  44.     in OS event log</strong>. <br>

  46.       use the <a href="aagntel.htm">View agent event log</a> option to view the
  47.       event log. You can also use <a href="cagntcfg.htm">operating system administration
  48.       tools</a> to view the event log.<br>

  51.   <li>To broadcast events to users, click <strong>Broadcast events to logged-in
  52.     users</strong>.<br>

  55.   <li>Select the check box to enable or disable the alarm. When a degraded or
  56.     fatal event occurs in the RAID subsystem, the Adaptec Storage Manager agent triggers
  57.     an alarm, if enabled.<br>

  60.   <li>If you enabled the alarm, adjust the length of time (in seconds) between
  61.     alarms. The default is 300 seconds (5 minutes).<br>

  67.   <li>Restart the Adaptec Storage Manager for the settings to take effect.</li>

  70.   from the Adaptec Storage Manager agent <a href="cagntcfg.htm">configuration file</a>,

  72.   Use this option if you change settings in the configuration file while the agent
  73.   is running. If you change the port number, you must stop and restart the agent
  74.   for the change to take effect.<br>
