  20. <p> When using the write-cache-mode option, you can choose from two available
  21.   settings.</p>
  22. <h2>Write back</h2>
  23. <p>For the write back setting, the controller sends data to the physical drive
  24.   for storage. Subsequently, the physical drive sends a confirmation to the controller
  25.   <b>before</b> actually storing the data. Doing so increases performance, but
  26.   also contains an element of risk. </p>

  31.       <li>It is possible to lose data if a power outage occurs while using the
  32.         write back setting. Consider carefully whether to enable write back on
  33.         a physical drive. Depending on how you use the system, write back might
  34.         be undesirable. <br>

  36.       <li>If you set this feature to write back, wait at least 10 seconds after
  37.         your last operation before you turn off your system. Failure to follow
  38.         this practice might result in lost data.

  43. <p>For the write-through<b> </b>setting, the controller sends data to the physical
  44.   drive for storage. Subsequently, the physical drive stores the data; then, sends
  45.   a confirmation to the controller. Using write through can decrease performance,
  46.   but has no risk of losing data. </p>
