  22. <p>A technique that divides a logical device into data blocks, called stripes,
  23.   which are then distributed over the physical drives. The layout is such that
  24.   a sequential read of data on the logical device results in parallel reads to
  25.   each of the physical drives, resulting in improved performance. </p>
