  16. <h1>Starting the Adaptec Storage Manager agent</h1>
  17. <p>The Adaptec Storage Manager agent is a monitoring agent for controllers
  18.   that uses less memory than the Adaptec Storage Manager graphical user interface (that
  19.   is, the console). You can manage and configure a %SERVER%
  20.   running the agent through a Adaptec Storage Manager console running on another system.</p>
  21. <p> <b><img src="images/note.gif" width="15" height="17"> Note:</b> If the system
  22.   administrator chose during installation to start the agent as a background service
  23.   (daemon), the agent is already running. <a href="cvragent.htm">Verify that the
  24.   agent is not running before performing this procedure.</a> </p>
  25. <p>Use the following procedure to start the Adaptec Storage Manager agent on your system.</p>

  28. <p>On Windows systems, the Adaptec Storage Manager agent is installed as a background service. It starts automatically when
  29. the system is started. To start the agent manually, use the Windows Administrative tools. See <a href="cvragent.htm">
