This option will low-level format your SCSI device. You will not
be prompted for an interleave value. This utility will tell the
drive to use its own optimal value. WARNING: ALL DATA ON THE
DEVICE WILL BE DESTROYED IF YOU CHOOSE TO LOW-LEVEL FORMAT THE
DEVICE.
2.) Verify Device Media
If you select this option, the device's media will be scanned for
media defects. If a defect is found, you will be given the option
to reassign the bad block or continue the scan.

This utility allows you to low-level format your SCSI drives or scan the drive media for any defects. The following host adapters are supported:

This utility supports multiple host adapters (e.g. An AHA-1542 and AHA-1510 in the same computer). It will also work whether or not you have an ASPI manager resident (e.g. ASPI4DOS.SYS, ASPI2DOS.SYS, etc.).
If you select to format a SCSI device, you will NOT be prompted for an
interleave value. This utility will tell the device to use its optimal interleave value when the format command is sent to the device.
The following types of SCSI drives are supported:
Standard SCSI fixed disks
Removable hard disks (e.g. Bernoulli, Syquest)
Magneto-Optical (MO) drives
This utility will work with the vast majority of SCSI drives.

This option displays all of the SCSI devices (ie. disk, tape, CD-ROM, etc.) that were found by this utility. Use

to select the SCSI device you would like to low-level format, or scan for media defects, and then press <Enter>. An error message will appear if you select a non-disk drive.
When you press <Enter>, you will be prompted as to whether you want to low-level format the SCSI device or scan the device media for defects.

Unexpected SCSI Command Failure

This error window will appear when an unexpected SCSI command has failed. Each of the fields displayed is described below:
Target SCSI ID:

This field displays the SCSI ID of the device.
SCSI CDB Sent:
--------------
This field displays the SCSI Command Descriptor Block (CDB) which
was sent to the device.
Host Adapter Status:
--------------------
This field displays the host adapter status when the command
failed.
Target Status:
--------------
This field displays the target status when the command failed.
Sense Key:
----------
This field displays the error code returned by the device. If
"N/A" is displayed, then no error was returned by the device.
Below is a list of common errors with a possible reason for the
failure:
02 - Not ready
--------------
The device may not have spun up yet. If this is a removable media
device, the media may not be inserted.
03 - Medium error
-----------------
The media may be bad. If this is removable media, try replacing
the media.
04 - Hardware error
-------------------
The device has reported a hardware failure.
05 - Illegal request
--------------------
This format utility probably doesn't support this device.
07 - Data protect
-----------------
Make sure the media is NOT write-protected before formatting.
