-INTRODUCTION
NetZero is a revolutionary means of accessing the Internet.
NetZero provides Free Internet access and email to its subscribers.
It is our proprietary zCast technology that enables us to provide
such online access. Whenever you dial-up and connect
to the Internet through NetZero, our ZeroPort is displayed.
This window displays ads and promotions that are targeted to each user.
-SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
*The minimum system requirements for your PC are:
90 MHz Pentium processor, with 32 MB of RAM, about 12 MB of free disk space,
a 28.8 modem and an SVGA monitor at 800x600 screen resolution.
*We recommend:
200 MHz Pentium MMX processor, with 32 MB of RAM, about 20 MB of
free disc space, 56K modem, and an SVGA monitor at 800x600 screen resolution,
a sound card and speakers.
We currently support only Windows 95/98 and NT 4.
There are plans for a Mac version at a later date.

-INSTALLATION
Installing the NetZero software is simple. Just follow these instructions:
1. Insert the NetZero CD into your CD ROM drive.
2. From the Windows Start menu, select "Run" and then select the "setup.exe" file
on the NetZero CD.
3. Follow the installation instructions.
4. If you get the following message "NetZero not configured; contact support"
this means that you will need to install Microsoft Dial-up Networking.
See procedure below on installing Microsoft Dial-up Networking.
5. You will need to manually set up your mail account,
the POP value should be set to: pop.netzero.net
and the the SMTP value should be set to: smtp.netzero.net

Now you are ready to go!
-USING NETZERO
Using NetZero is easy. We designed it so that people of all ages could use it
without any effort.
*Starting NetZero
Just double-click on the NetZero icon on your desktop.
This will display the NetZero logon window.
*First Time User
The first time you launch NetZero, the Welcome window will pop up.
If you want to create a new account simply click the
"Click here if you are not a member of NetZero and wish to join" button,
this will take you through the sign up process.
If you already have a NetZero account simply click the
"Click here if you are currently a member of NetZero" button.
*Existing User
Enter your member ID and password and select the "Connect" button.
Once the ZeroPort is displayed, you can start browsing or checking your email!
*Change Access Number
Select the "Change it" button.
1. Select the area code or state.
2. Select a city.
3. Select a dial-up number. This is the number that your modem will dial,
in order to connect to NetZero.
Note: Check with your local phone company to see if this number is local
and is toll free for you.
4. Choose a dialing option.
Note: Choose any of these options just as if you were making a regular
phone call.
Once the ZeroPort is up and running, the first thing that you will
want to do is find a location on your screen to place it.
By clicking and dragging on the drag bar (just to the left of the word
"Dock"), you can position the ZeroPort to a convenient place on your desktop.
Just remember that you cannot move it off the screen. Alternatively, you can
dock the ZeroPort to the top or bottom of your screen. Just click the up or
down arrow to the right of the word "Dock."
To display the pop-up menu, simply right click on any of the ads, or
click the "ZeroPort" button.
In the middle of the bottom bar of the ZeroPort there are two arrow buttons
that let you move backward and forward between ads.
Click on any ad that interests you to activate your default browser and
display the advertiser's web site.
You can use the ZeroPort even if you do not have your browser open.
Our one-click Browse button opens a web address window, so you can
easily type in the web address, keyword or real name you're looking to find.
Just click on "Go!" and you're there. No need to open a separate browser.
You can use it just to retrieve your email. Our E-mail button
lights up the very second an e-mail comes to you. Just click
on the button to launch your e-mail program.
-ZEROPORT FEATURES
Ticker
Want the latest information on news, finance or sports without opening a separate browser? Our ticker bar lets you know all the latest, quickly and easily. You can even customize the ticker tape screen for the stocks, sports teams and news that are most important to you.
E-mail Button
Never miss an important e-mail message again. Our E-mail button lights up the very second an e-mail comes to you. Just click on the button to launch your e-mail program.
Browse Button
Our one-click Browse button opens a web address window, so you can easily type in the web address, keyword or real name you're looking to find. Just click on "Go!" and you're there. No need to open a separate browser.
Window Position Memory
The ZeroPort will automatically position itself where you last left it. This means that you do not have to constantly reposition it each time you start. Once you find a nice spot on your screen for the ZeroPort, it will always open in that same location.
New Browser Windows
If you'd like to open a new browser window for each new web site you visit, right click in the banner, go to "Browser," and click on the "New Browser Window" option. A check mark to the left of the option indicates that the option is selected.
Pop-up Menu
To display the pop-up menu simply right click with the right mouse button on any of the ads, or click the "ZeroPort" button.
Dockable ZeroPort
To dock the ZeroPort to either the top or bottom of your screen, click on the up or down arrow in the bottom right corner of the ZeroPort.
Auto Position
You can have ZeroPort automatically position itself in any corner of your screen. Just click on Position in the pop-up menu and click on the menu option that corresponds to the corner where you want the ZeroPort positioned.
Hide ZeroPort Buttons
In order to take up the least amount of space you can hide the buttons on the ZeroPort. Just click View in the pop-up menu and then in the additional menu that pops down, click the word "Icons" to put a check next to it to hide the buttons and display small icons instead.
Move the ZeroPort Without Using the Pop-Up Menu
You can move the ZeroPort without using the pop-up menu. By clicking and dragging on the drag bar (at the bottom, to the left of the word "Dock"), you can position the ZeroPort to a convenient place on your desktop.
Multi-member
You can set up multiple members and profiles on one PC. Select the "Create It" button and then follow the online instructions to create additional new accounts.

PLEASE NOTE:
Before you begin, Make sure you have your Windows 95/98 CD-ROM or diskettes
available and ready for installation.
Install Dial-up Networking
1. Double-click "My Computer" on your desktop.
2. Double-click the "Control Panel" icon.
3. Double-click the "Add/Remove Programs" icon.
4. Click the Windows "Setup" tab.
5. Click the "Communications" component.
6. Click the "Details..." button.
7. Put a check in the box next to "Dial-Up Networking."
8. Click the "OK" button.
9. Click the "OK" button again.
10. Windows 95 will prompt you for your installation diskettes or CD.
11. Wait for Dial-Up Networking to install.
12. When you are told to restart, click the "OK" button.
13. Click the "Start" button and choose "Shut Down."
14. Select "Restart" the computer?
15. Click the "Yes" button.
16. Wait for Windows 95 to restart.
This may take a few minutes.
Add a Dial-up Adapter
1. Click the "Start" button, then point to "Settings" and choose "Control Panel."
2. Click the "Network" icon.
3. Select the "Configuration" tab.
4. Click the "Add" button.
5. Select "Adapter."
6. Click the "Add" button.
7. From the "Manufactures:" list, choose "Microsoft."
8. From the "Network Adapters:" list, choose "Dial-up Adapter."
9. Click the "OK" button.
Add TCP/IP
1. Click the "Start" button, then point to "Settings" and choose "Control Panel."
2. Click the "Network" icon.
3. Select the "Configuration" tab.
4. Click the "Add" button.
5. Select "Protocol."
6. Click the "Add" button.
7. From the "Manufactures:" list, choose "Microsoft."
8. From the "Network Protocol:" list, choose "TCP/IP."
9. Click the "OK" button.
Add Client for Microsoft Networks
1. Click the "Add" button.
2. Select "Client."
3. Click the "Add" button.
4. From the "Manufacturers:" list, select "Microsoft."
5. From the "Network Clients:" list, select "Client for Microsoft Networks."
6. Click the "OK" button.
You may need to upgrade to the latest version of Dial-Up Networking(v1.3).
