  14. Medical Multimedia Group is an association of health care providers 
  15. involved in developing unique computer applications for enhancing the 
  16. efficiency of the practicing physician.  Our efforts are directed 
  17. towards the aspects of medical care that involve the collection, 
  18. assimilation, and dessimination of information that will ultimately 
  19. be used to care for patients.

  21. Members of Medical Multimedia Group are currently actively involved 
  22. with the development of an integrated healthcare network for the 
  23. State of Montana.  Our goal is to provide access to telecommunications 
  24. technology for the practicing rural physician, in order to promote 
  25. information exchange, continuing medical education, and clinical 
  26. consultation via computer link.  We are particularly interested in 
  27. medical image acquisition and transmission via computer, and promoting 
  28. the use of image transmission to enhance the effectiveness of 
  29. telecommunication technology.  To meet these goals, we are developing 
  30. low cost solutions for image acquisition and transmission from a host 
  31. of sources; including radiaological data, videoarthroscopes, and  
  32. videolaproscopes.

  35. Patient Education is the major interest and focus with members of 
  36. Medical Multimedia Group at present.  Computer-based patient education 
  37. is a relatively new concept that we are sure will prove to be more 
  38. effective and efficient than traditional mediums.  We are developing 
  39. software for patient education utilizing the computers unique ability 
  40. to combine graphics, animation and text in a multimedia presentation.  
  41. These presentations attempt to educate patients in a wide variety of 
  42. common disease processes, and will incorporate the concept of documented 
  43. informed consent for surgical procedures;  utilizing the computer to 
  44. inform, test, and document the patient's knowledge of certain routine 
  45. procedures prior to surgery.

  47. Continuing Medical Education for physicians and allied healthcare personnel 
  48. is also a high priority for Medical Multimedia Group.  We currently have 
  49. several projects in development that utilize the evolving tools of multimedia 
  50. in CME.

  54. Software Availability

  56. Medical Multimedia Group currently has developmental versions of patient 
  57. education software available for review.  Topics include Carpal Tunnel 
  58. Syndrome (including a documented informed consent module), and Back Pain.  
  59. A third topic, Shoulder Problems, is nearly complete.

  62. Hardware Requirements
  63.  
  64. Patient education software designed by Medical Multimedia Group requires 
  65. an MS-DOS computer with a 286, 386, or 486 processor.  We highly recommend 
  66. a 386SX, or better processor.  In addition, the programs require a display 
  67. adapter and monitor that are capable of displaying 640X480 resolution in 
  68. 256 colors, and a microsoft compatible mouse.
