-
- Visual Voice Product Overview
-
- Visual Voice is a collection of custom controls (OLE Control and
- VBX versions available) and a graphical workbench that allows
- developers to quickly build sophisticated, Windows-based voice
- processing and telephony applications.
-
- Typical business systems include prospects requesting faxed
- product brochures, customers placing orders, sales reps accessing
- shipment status, or employees checking benefits information.
-
- Telephony applications developed with Visual Voice can interact
- with practically every available data source or network because
- of the extensive third party and built-in support available for
- the development environments that support custom controls. Visual
- Voice adds powerful telephony features to popular programming
- environments such as Microsoft's Visual Basic, Powersoft's
- Powerbuilder, and Borland's Delphi. With Visual Voice you can
- create applications that provide access to your data from any
- phone at any time.
-
- Visual Voice custom controls provides simple high-level commands
- for:
- *Placing or answering phone calls
- *Performing call control (hold, transfer, conference, etc.)
- *Prompting for and retrieving touch-tone digits
- *Playing and recording voice files
- *Sending and receiving faxes
- *Speaking characters, numbers, dates, times, and prices
-
- Visual Voice includes the Voice Workbench, a set of
- point-and-click graphical tools for rapidly developing telephony
- applications. The Workbench helps create and revise all voice
- processing objects including voice files, queries, strings, and
- subroutines.
-
- With Visual Voice's Virtual Phone applications can be developed,
- tested, and demoed with any sound hardware or software that
- supports playing .WAV files. The Virtual Phone simulates placing
- and receiving calls, issuing touch-tones, etc.
-
- Visual Voice also includes a large number of sample applications,
- including voice mail, order entry, and fax-on-demand systems.
-
-
- Support for Single-line and Multi-line Hardware (Including TAPI!)
-
- Visual Voice Pro works with industry standard telephony boards
- (e.g. Dialogic) to allow you to create industrial strength
- multi-line voice applications.
-
- Visual Voice for Mwave works with single-line voice/fax/modem
- boards based on the IBM's revolutionary Mwave DSP technology.
- Using Visual Voice for Mwave, you can inexpensively develop
- single line voice/fax applications. Mwave-based boards also
- support SoundBlaster audio, MIDI, and are software upgradable
- as new features become available. Some popular Mwave boards
- include Best Data's ACE and Spectrum's Office F/X.
-
- Visual Voice for TAPI (the Microsoft/Intel Telephony API)
- supports all TAPI-compliant voice/fax boards, modems, and PBXs.
-
-
- Advanced Visual Voice Features
-
- Text-to-Speech
- Effortlessly speak email messages, addresses, product
- descriptions, names, and more. This custom control uses
- Berkeley Speech Technologies (BST) advanced BestSpeech
- T-T-S text-to-speech technology to dynamically speak
- information over a phone line. Using TTS, your application
- can syntactically construct words and sentences from ASCII
- text files or variable strings. Information can be spoken in
- every international language that BST supports. Both software-
- only and hardware-assisted versions are available.
-
- Voice Recognition
- Using the speaker-independent voice recognition (VR) control
- for Visual Voice, create applications that understand what your
- callers say. Recognize letters, words, and numbers from
- pre-defined or custom vocabularies. Control voice mail, spell
- names, request extensions, and order products, all without
- entering touch-tones! Software-only and hardware-assisted
- versions available.
-
- Other features
- *Conferencing and Transferring via a PBX
- *Caller ID (may require additional hardware)
- *Single Line Faxing
-
-
- Advanced Features Available for Visual Voice Pro and Visual
- Voice for TAPI
-
- ANI, DNIS, DID
- Do you need to know the number the caller dialed (Direct Inward
- Dialing - DID, Dialed Number Identification Service - DNIS) or
- the number that the call originated from (Automatic Number
- Identification - ANI)? Visual Voice events let you retrieve this
- information.
-
- Custom Tone Detection
- Your applications can now use powerful custom tone detection
- capabilities. Define the special tones of your PBX and/or paging
- system, and your application will be able to detect everything
- from line dropped signals to invalid extension numbers to paging
- prompts and act on the results accordingly. This support also
- enables you to recognize fax and modem tones and to play specific
- tones over the phone line.
-
- International Language Support
- You can customize Visual Voice to speak numbers, dates, money,
- etc. in your national language. These algorithms have been
- exposed so that you may code the rules specific to your language
- and/or national character set.
-
- Visual Link Control
- The Visual Link control allows separate Visual Basic applications
- to share data as easily as filling a property array and issuing
- an action (no DDE). Uses global memory for fast, efficient
- operation.
-
- Voice Monitor
- A Voice monitor is provided to centrally monitor, control, and
- launch Visual Voice applications on multiple lines.
-
- Call Switching
- A Visual Voice control has been developed to expose the switching
- facilities of the Dialogic AMX board. With these features, your
- applications can route calls, enable conference calls (without a
- PBX), and share resource devices among lines. Support is also
- available for the Dialogic DMX switch for high-volume switching
- and call-back applications. The DMX switch control lets you
- switch up to 96 lines on Dialogic 12 and 24 line boards.
-
-
- Visual Fax Product Overview
-
- Visual Fax is a Visual Basic custom control that allows developers
- to rapidly build high-volume, Windows-based, multi-line fax
- applications such as fax servers and fax broadcast systems.
- Combined with Visual Voice, Visual Fax can be used to build
- interactive faxing applications including fax-on-demand and fax
- mail.
-
- Visual Fax can handle up to 10 fax lines per PC and requires
- no IRQs. Visual Fax automatically handles the sending and
- receiving of faxes, instead of requiring you to write polling
- logic. For high-volume outbound faxing, you can specify a line
- to use or let Visual Fax select a free line automatically.
-
- Visual Fax gives you complete control over your fax documents.
- Special events notify you when faxes are sent and received. You
- can fax existing documents or use Visual Basic to create
- customized documents and fax them on-the-fly. Visual Fax supports
- the sending and receiving of ASCII, PCX, DCX, and TIF files.
- Support is also provided for binary file transfer for unattended
- file transfers.
-
- A special print driver is included enabling you to capture print
- output from any Windows application for immediate or scheduled
- faxing.
