  1. This directory and all the directories below it contain the
  2. complete HotJava 1.0alpha3 and the Java language 1.0alpha3 binary
  3. release for both Windows 95 and Windows NT 3.5.

  5. To run this release of HotJava for Win32 you will need:
  6.  
  7. - An x86-based PC running Windows 95 (build 950 or greater) or Windows NT 3.5.
  8.   We recommend using a Pentium since we haven't yet performance-tuned HotJava.
  9.  
  10. - A supported multimedia sound device.
  11.  
  12. - 256 colors.  Support for 1,4,16,24-bit color is forthcoming.

  15. To execute HotJava from the same directory where this README file
  16. is located, simply type:

  18.         bin\hotjava
  19.  
  20. You can also add hotjava\bin to your path if you choose, or create a
  21. "shortcut" on your desktop if you are running Windows 95.

  25. In addition to the documentation included in this release, the latest
  26. information about Java and HotJava is available from
  27. http://java.sun.com. This includes announcements about new releases,
  28. a FAQ, a known bugs list, links to Java applets developed at other
  29. sites, and much more.

  31. The group at Sun working on HotJava also has a port underway to MacOS 7.5.
  32. When it is available it will be announced on the Java home page and to the
  33. "java-announce" mailing list.

  35. A bug submittal form has been included in this release.  To file a bug
  36. or request a new feature choose "Submit a Bug Report" from the "Help"
  37. menu. Known bugs and frequently requested features pages are
  38. maintained at http://java.sun.com/bugsandfeatures.html

  41. http://java.sun.com/mail.html for information on what is offered and
