- Update from V1.04 -> V1.04B
-
- This is not a scheduled update, but more a bug fix so don't
- expect big suprises.
- At some systems V1.04 looked a bit unstable, but this seems
- to be solved with a recompile of the BBS executable.
-
-
-
- If my BBS number (+31-599-564696) can't be reached anymore in
- the next few weeks it is because of changes to the phonelines here.
-
- A number of lines of the business in the house here are changed
- to ISDN lines. (My BBS line is part of the business)
- I don't know yet what the new number will be but I will be Unit 7
- on one of the lines.
- There should be a tape on the old lines with a recording of the
- new number. It isn't 100% sure that the number is changed
- because the fellow I spoke later told me the number would
- be the same .. but that person also told me that we should be
- callable with every modem. Which is a but strange.
- The point is that the PTT is convincing people to convert
- to ISDN by calling them often and sending them folders with
- personal deals with things that would else be options
- that cost money like conversions kits with A/B converters.
-
- Note that on the new line you won't get a connect higher
- then 14400 baud because I don't actually have a budget
- for a new modem.
-
- But in the business (not mine) there will be a Pentium 200Mhz
- with an internal U.S. Robotics (now 3com) V34/ISDN .. so if you get
- a ISDN connect (64000 baud) you know something went wrong with ISDN
- and you are on the wrong machine.
-
- If you loose all contact to me because something goes
- wrong and you don't have the correct number you
- can reach me by E-mail.
-
- Write to: Paul.Spijkerman@ddimedia.com (general purposes)
- Trion@ddimedia.com (for BBS matters)
-
- I don't have an E-mail account at this moment, but when
- you write to this address it will be forwarded to an
- E-mail account from someone else here in the house.
- When I have an E-mail account from Het.net or some
- cheap provider like them all E-mail will be forwarded
- (routed) to that address ... so make a note of the
- address you should always be able to reach me through it.
-
- When the previous address doesn't work anymore because
- soon the planet internet account names will change, or
- there is nobody in the house with an E-mail account you
- could also try this address.
-
- Write to: Trion.support@ddimedia.com
-
- All E-mail on this address will be forwarded to my
- fido-net point number.
-
- (All mentioned E-mail accounts are active and tested)

-
- -Some new Tilde codes
-
- ~218 number of days since first log on of the current user
- ~219 number of days since last log on of the current user
-
- -New tilde code ~11 which causes a 1 second delay
-
- When you start a line with a ~11 code that line is printed
- 1 second later then the line before this line.
- The same happens when you end a line with a ~11 code,
- because the delay is happens in a function which translates
- the line. When it encounters an ~11 code the translation
- is stopped for a second and when the translation is
- finished the line is displayed.
-
- So two ~11 codes in one line will delay the line with
- two seconds.
-
-
- -Worked a bit on the (spot) styling codes (*bold* etc.)
- it should work better now, because it would sometimes
- translate lines of ANSI drawings in messages.
- I was also working on a problem that it only uses
- one style at a time. But that wasn't finished
- when sending this update.
-
-
- -Added a new menu command "SetScanDays".
-
- Which does basically the same as "SetScanDate", it will set
- a new date to scan new files, but instead of asking for
- a date it asks for how many days you want to scan back.
- Something like this:
-
- Last New file scan was 1000 days ago at : 25-Feb-95 18:52:52
- How many days do you want to scan back ? : 999
-
-
- -The allfiles program can now also producs newfiles lists.
- For Allfiles add the next line to the part of the
- config where the allfiles is defined:
-
- TYPE ALLFILES
-
- For Newfiles add the next lines to the part of the
- config where the newfiles is defined.
-
- TYPE NEWFILES
- DAYS 14
-
- Note that the produced lists only contain validated files.
-
-
- -Changed the CDrom door , so you can type more then one digit
- when entering the disc number. This was needed to operate
- a system with more then 10 CDrom disks online.
-
-
-
- -Added an option to the mail processor to archive netmail,
- when you use the flag -N in packing mode netmail will
- be archived.
- Also made a little change so the names of archivers
- (in the systems.cfg and archiver.cfg can now be
- 8 characters.
-
- Note that I set this up so netmail and echomail end
- up in separated archives.
- Only a precaution, because how larger an archive the bigger
- the change something goes wrong with it (and loose netmail).
-
-
-
- -It is possible to configure the mail processor so it
- can cooperate with the AmiGate program which gates
- newsgroups and E-mail .. AmiGate will convert the
- fido style archives to Inet style archives and
- put them in the UUSpool directory of the software
- that transfers mail with your provider.
-
- If you want to use this option all mail for the
- link has to be Archived, so you have to use the
- new "archive netmail" option of the mail processor.
-
- The program Amigate expects the fido style packets it needs
- to archive with a fixed name. But the mail processor
- makes packets and archives with a random name.
- This can be done by changing the archive.cfg
-
- When you add the folowing entry to the archive.cfg
- a script will be started to process the packet instead
- of an archiver. If you use this you have to have a
- corresponding node in the systems.cfg with UUCP
- as archiver instead of an archiver like LHA or LZX
-
- Example archive entry:
-
-
- ARCHIVETYPE "UUCP"
- EXTENSION ""
- RECOGNIZE FF FF FF FF
- EXTRACT ""
- ARCHIVE "execute trion:scripts/gatemail.scr %s"
- #
-
-
- You also need a script in the Trion:Scripts directory
- to start the AmiGate program.
- What it does is renaming the packet to a fixed
- name and starting AmiGate .. which will process
- the packet and delete it.
- Also the script deletes the .flo files because
- the file would grow and never be deleted.
-
- With this script you would have something like this in
- you systems.cfg:
-
- 2:283/326.999 UUCP PASSWORD ;Gate adress
-
- Example script:
-
-
-
- .KEY packet
- ;.DEF file=nix
- .BRA [
- .KET ]
-
- rename [packet] trion:outbound/2.283.326.999.GAT
- uucp:c/amigate gatepkt
- delete trion:outbound/2.283.326.999.FLO
-
-
-
- -Also you can use this system to archive all the mail for
- one person and send it to them once in a while
- via Inet. Don't know if there are programs to actually
- automate the last bit but YamGate was mentioned
- for this purpose.
-
- Note that you need to add an entry to the archive.cfg
- for each archive with a unique name. You could use
- the first name of the person as archivername.
- Also you need a separate script for each system.
-
- A script for that use would look something like this:
-
-
-
- .KEY packet
- ;.DEF file=nix
- .BRA [
- .KET ]
-
- lha a trion:outbound/username.lha [packet]
- delete trion:outbound/2.283.326.100.FLO
