  1. The "setfx" program is required to initialize the OPL4 synth and
  2. the optional effects daughtercard. OPL3 and MPU401 modes of the card
  3. will be silent without this. Actually the program just writes a byte
  4. to the OPL4 chip and loads a bypass microcode to the effect chip.
  5. Since the program contains proprietary material, I cannot distribute
  6. sources (sorry). The OPL4 initialization is not secret so I may move it
  7. to the driver as soon as I have some time.

  9. Copy the setfx program to a suitable directory like /sbin and modify
  10. your /etc/rc.d/rc.local to run it. The program uses ioperm() so it must
  11. be run by root.
