  13. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  16. 1. Double click setup.exe to install A-1 Image Screen Saver on your system.
  17. 2. After setup is done you will notice that the program was not installed
  18.    in the A-1 Image Screen Saver folder or one that you created.

  26.    -then select "settings"
  27.    -select "control panel"

  29.    -and then click "screen saver" tab

  33. ** Please Note: A-1 Image Screen Saver works best with your computer color palette
  34.    set to 16 bit or higher. If the images that you are displaying look distorted,
  35.    faded, etc. you might have your color setting set to 256 colors. You can
  36.    view your settings by following the steps below. Please refer to your computer manual
  37.    on what your computer supports. Not all computers support higher than 256 colors.

  48. Float an unlimited amount of (JPEG,JIF,GIF,BMP or DIB) images gracefully about your
  49. screen with this true 32 bit application for Windows 95. The easy to use interface
  50. makes customizing your screen saver a snap.

  52. Some images may already be entered into the screen saver so you can immediately view
  53. how the screen saver looks. However, you can enter and view your own personal images/photos
  54. by going into the settings for A-1 Image! Please be sure to read the helpful information
  55. below if you would like to know the features of this screen saver.

  72. * Notes on 'Password protection'
  73. - This allows a user to set a password which must then be entered to quit a screen saver.
  74. The computer will prompt you for the password if you try to exit the screen saver module.
  75. If an incorrect password (or no password) is entered, the screen saver module will resume
  76. operation, disallowing access to the Windows Desktop. This provides security and privacy
  77. for your computer when you are away from the desk. 'Password Protection' will not work for 
  78. Window NT users.

  81. * Notes on 'Message Board'
  82. - This allows anyone to leave a message while your away from your desk. Password Protection
  83. must be enabled for the message board to be displayed. The 'Message Board' feature will not 
  84. work for Window NT users.

  88. - Adding a caption to each image is easy. Load an image in to the screen saver and view 
  89. its picture. Click in the 'Image Caption' box and start typing. The caption is saved auto-
  90. matically for each image.

  94. - You may choose your own background color by clicking on 'Choose Color' button in the 
  95. 'Background' frame.  Also, you may display the images on the desktop by selecting 
  96. 'Desktop' in the 'Background' frame.

  111. How do I order?
  112.    
  113. Ordering is easy. Follow the instructions on opening A-1 Image from the "screen saver"
  114. Tab (FAQ #1). Click "Order" and Follow instructions from there.

  129. 1. How do I get into screen saver settings to select a screen saver?
  130.  
  131.    Click the "start" button
  132.    then click "settings"
  133.    then click "control panel"
  134.    Select "display"
  135.    then click the "screen saver" tab
  136.    
  137.    Once you get there, simply click the small arrow to select "A-1 Image", then
  138.    you can use the "settings" button to select your images and options.

  141. 2. How come when I display a JPEG image/photo as my screen saver, the color
  142.    is not clear and distorted?
  143.  
  144.    In order to view a JPEG (16.7 Million colors) on your screen you need to have
  145.    your computer display settings set to at least 16 bit or higher on your computer.
  146.    Your computer display settings might be set to 256 colors (8 bit). Make sure you 
  147.    know what your doing before changing these settings!!! Not all computers and 
  148.    monitors can display past 256 colors. Please refer to your computer manual.

  150.    To view your computer display settings, follow the same instructions (FAQ #1)
  151.    to A1 Image Screen Saver but click on the settings tab.
  152.    
  153.    A quick way around this problem is to have a program like Paint Shop Pro, 
  154.    that converts Jpeg (16.7 Million colors) to a GIF (256 colors) format.
  155.    I found it quite useful on older machines.

  157. 3. What should I do after I receive my Registration key?
  158.    
  159.    Follow the instructions on opening A-1 Image from the "screen saver" Tab (FAQ #1)
  160.    and click "Registration Key" at the bottom  of the program.

  162. 4. How can I convert from a GIF to a JPEG format, or any other image format?
  163.    How can I create my own images/photos to be displayed?

  165.    PaintShop Pro is an excellent way of converting a image/photo from one format
  166.    to another. You can download PaintShop Pro at http://www.shareware.com. This 
  167.    program allows you to construct your own images/photos.

  169. 5. Why are some images clearer than others?
  170.    
  171.    Refer to (FAQ #3).
  172.    The images are displayed at the same quality which they were originally
  173.    scanned. A-1 Image Screen Saver does not affect any image quality,
  174.    as it simply displays the image at the quality which they are scanned.

  178. UPGRADING

  180. Get the latest version at http://members.aol.com/bryan505/a1

  182.    -Uninstall the older A-1 Image version from your computer
  183.     (follow "Uninstall" instructions at the bottom of this page). 
  184.     *This is very important since the newer version will try and overwrite
  185.     the older version, producing a setup error.
  186.    -Install the latest A-1 Image version by follow the "Installation" instructions
  187.     at the top of this page. 
  188.    -Enter your unique registration key that was used in the older version.
