NetWare 3270 LAN Workstation and NetWare 3270 Multi Workstation
Version 2.0 Features
Version 1.3 of the Gateway Required
It is expected that this version of the Workstations will begin shipment in
early Spring 1991
o Configuration program uses CUA interface.
The CUA interface conforms with IBM's SAA standards, making it easier
to use.
o Separate configuration file.
The configuration file was embedded in the control program in prior
releases. By separating out this file, Novell will have the ability
to distribute fixes and, potentially, upgrades, without forcing the
customer to recustomize their software.
o Command line overrides for configuration options.
Command line overrides at control program load time for APL or
typewriter keyboard, DOS or no DOS session, heap size adjustments,
keyboard layout, numeric lock, video memory saved, workstation, server
and access code names, stack size, trace options, video snow
suppression, number of SPX receive buffers, and configuration file
name eliminate the need to maintain multiple copies of the workstation
software.
o Keystroke jumping to a specific host session.
Alt/Home displays the message "Enter Termid:", which allows the user
to enter the session short name for the session they want to jump to.
The user will therefore not have to page through each consecutive
session to get to a particular session.
o Exit key unloads software.
Pressing Alt/End from a host session unloads the workstation software
from memory. It is similar to the WSEXIT command except that a DOS
session is not required.
o Enhanced file transfer performance.
A Send/Receive parameter, PKTSIZE, enables the user to specify a
transfer packet size for optimal file transfer performance.
o Compatibility with EGA/VGA graphics applications.
A customization option will permit the control program to display host
sessions without losing EGA/VGA graphics screens for applications such
as Lotus 123 and Microsoft Word, running in the DOS session.
o Supports numeric lock.
A customization option will provide support for this feature, which
prevents the entry of non-numeric data in a numeric entry field.
o Supports IBM Ident key for screen prints.
Allows the user to dynamically select different PC printers for screen
prints.
o Automatic determination of LU1 or LU3 printer.
A customization option will allow the user to select LU1, LU3, or BOTH
for the host printer data stream. The BOTH option relieves the user
from having to track down this information.
o Page printer support for host printing.
A customization option allows the user to select either a page printer
or a line printer. This should resolve printing problems reported by
some customers.
o Supports longer host print lines.
A LU1 3287 printer session will be able to print lines longer than 132
columns.
o Supports file transfers with PS/CICS and OfficeVision/MVS.
A TRANSFER utility supports the Import/Export option of PS/CICS and
OfficeVision/MVS.
o Ability to save and restore mouse state when toggling to a host
session. Currently, if a user is running a DOS application which uses
a Microsoft Mouse and they toggle to the host session and back, the
DOS application screen is corrupted. If the application does not have
the ability to refresh the screen, the user must exit the program and
reload it. Version 2.0 will permit the control program to display
host sessions without corrupting the screen in the DOS application.
If the mouse is not fully Microsoft compatible, this feature may not
be supported.

The LAN Workstation ONLY
o LU6.2 support and AS/400 keyboard files will be included in NetWare
3270 LAN Workstation v2.0.
Previously, these files were included in the NetWare SNA Gateway box.
o Support for Servicing Advertising Protocol (SAP)
SAP enables the user to give the NetWare SNA Gateway an alphanumeric
name rather than a hexadecimal network or node address.
o Menu driven gateway status message capability
Allows a user to send either a broadcast message or a message to a
specific 3270 user.
o Supports NetWare SNA Gateway Version 1.3 and NetWare for SAA.
Provides an identical user interface for a customer upgrading from the
NetWare SNA Gateway to NetWare for SAA.
o Terminal ID displays on workstation OIA.
The terminal ID consists of the gateway SAP name and the 2-character
LU ID from the Gateway Status Utility. This feature enables the LAN
administrator to immediately identify any workstation having a
problem.
